None of this is new. It is a cyclical event that occurs within Islam repeatedly down throughout it's entire history. Their are some reformers popping their heads up within Islam now the current President of Egypt might be one how much of one remains to be seen. This is a good thing. You want a fairly comparison of who and what ISIS/Al Qaeda is Look up counter reform catholics.

I agree with Geddon: terrorists and fighters have always buried themselves in the midst of civilians and the civilians simply skirt them and pretend not to notice. They will not fight them, they will not report them. When they feel overly threatened, they run away.

There has always been fighting between the Shiites and Sunnis -- some refer to it as a civil war between the sects; others say they will merge.
Currently, the Saudi-backed Sunni's are the bad guys - making up the ranks of Al Qaeda, Isis, and other terrorist organizations.
Thirty years ago, it was the Iranian-backed Shiites - making up Hezbollah and fighting to occupy the near East.

Personally, I believe it has nothing to do with their history. It's ideology and excess testosterone, pure and simple.

Machiavelli writes:- "men more quickly forget the death of their father than the loss of their patrimony".

Yeah really.. KSA has had 26 terrorist events in the past 2 years.. If you read the Saudi newspapers the SAG is rooting these guys out and rounding them up.. Many are expats like the thug who blew himself up outside the US embassy in Jeddah yesterday.

They are also hunting them down in East Africa.

Bull(*)(*)(*)(*). You keep trying to spew this nonsense, as if Saudis aren't involved in terrorism.
Hate to break it to you, but the Saudis funded terrorist in Syria.

    Just stop already.
