And France said the same thing in 1939.

Tell it to the people of Anaheim.

According to you, people are blood lusting mad killers that have to all be caged to keep us all from killing. If gun owners were as murderous as you believe, you wouldn't be here right now.

Stop the hyperbolic crap and debate instead of slinging insults for every gun owner in America.

The guy could just as easily have made a bomb like McVeigh did. Your assertions are baseless insulting flamethrowing.

How can gun control be patriotic when our Founders spoke against gun control.

You're completely nuts, pal. The "freakin' mayhem" was caused by a person, not a gun.

Why don't you outlaw people instead of guns?

This is one of the most asinine political statements I've ever read anywhere in any forum.

You're trying to intimidate me to make me obey the law?

Well, I have a nice juicy concept for you to consider: screw you, and screw your law too. I'm just going to ignore your stupid little law, and God help you if you ever get in my way. How do you like them apples?

What's irresponsible, is for some internet a-wipe to try to suppress my natural right to protect my family, just because some other psychotic a-wipe went nuts and killed a few people.

What a fool. Have you actually read the Second Amendment. Do you see that word "necessary" there?

You're going to take away the citizen's rights to defend themselves and their country, just because your bleeding heart can't stand the sight of a little blood? Jeez.... please please stay far away from me when the shooting starts. Which it will. Which is when people like me will be picking off the bad guys so people like you can shut up long enough for us to get the job done.

Thinking about "today" and not "tomorrow" is very myopic.

Let's take a hypothetical situation which has some foundation based upon history. Assume for a moment that something similiar to the Cuban Missile Crisis happens in the future but instead of an all-out nuclear war happening it actually occurs. The devistation of a nuclear war targeting the US military could wipe out virtually all of our military assets. Now simply assume that Mexico wants the territories back that it has historically lost to the United States including Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California and it takes advantage of the situation. No "military" forces to oppose it and it hadn't been attacked so it has it's full military capability and invades the United States. The People of the United States with firearms would be the only thing standing in their way and they could successfully defeat that invading military force. Unarmed those States would fall to the invading forces.

Yes, this is an extreme hypothetical case and it is highly improbably but not impossible. We don't know what the world will be like in 100 years or 200 years but we do know that the fact that Americans have always been armed has prevented this from happening for the last 200 years. The Texans defeated the military might of Mexico in the 19th Century. These were common men with firearms that organized and defeated a serious military force. In 1776 it was armed Americans that defeated the British Empire.

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms protects us from the tyranny of individuals. foreign governments, and even from the potential tyranny of our own government. Always remember that people like Hitler and Saddam came to power under a Constitution and then became tyrannical dictators. Only a fool believes that it "could never happen here" because history has shown it could happen anywhere. The only thing that prevents it from happening here is that the citizens are armed and very dangerous.
