You misunderstand. I know that we are wealthy compared to the rest of the world. Even so, the only changes that you and I can make are via the ballot box.

Other than that, we can't do a damned thing about anything. And whatever is done... will take a very long time to improve things.

I'm hopeful that we'll get more things right than wrong.

I've seen it with my own eyes. One common myth, is that private does things better and more efficiently than government. That is certainly NOT true in every case.

... If Congress passes a law, saying the law of Supply & Demand is wrong, Supply & Demand wins. Every time. If Congress tries to block their effects, Supply & Demand instead finds another avenue to make themselves known.

Make everything Universal? You create shortages. Fix prices at a certain level? Shortages. Or wasteful surplus, it depends.

Subsidies? They hide prices, they don't lower them. Subsidies have never lowered prices, long term, they always rise. You learn this in a basic Macroeconomic's class.

Congress is saying they're plan, with its subsidies, is an exception. I f*cking laugh at the asshats and their hubris.

And laugh at anyone gullible enough to believe them. Because you know who didn't believe them? The CBO.

The Politicians and the bean-counters disagree, gee, I wonder who is right?

    Here's one article.

And being a military guy for decades... I know (firsthand) what I'm saying.

I KNOW the government can do many things better and faster in many cases. (Been there, seen it.)

I don't know that this is a good example. Here's 3 other ways to spin that news story:

1.) Business take advantage of the government because they know they don;t have to be fiscally responsible.

2.) The government knowingly was fiscally irresponsible for hiring business for more than they were worth.

3.) The government pays its own help less than private enterprise would.

    None sound good

I do not ask for a link. Not yet. Tell me what the government does more efficiently in your words.

You need to look it up yourself then. (I'm not your 'instructor' and I'm not on trial.)

I've seen some aspects of the biding process. All I can tell you is that it is a MYTH that private is necessarily cheaper (or more effective) than government.

It is a myth that private is 'necessarily' superior to government.

There is enough info and data out there to make clear what I'm saying.

You just proved the case for Universal health care with this post, like every other developed sane country has proven. As long as there is a private market, there will always be a cartel.

There are very many aspects of various government functions which rival or surpass those in the private sector.

It's not just one or two 'parts' to name.

Correct. Healthcare should not be about 'profit'; it should be about 'function'.

The only way that could be true is if the government paid its help less than its private sector counterparts, that doesn't seem fair does it? I fully agree that a strong government could have the power to arbitrarily pay its help less than they deserved, but is that really something to brag about?

Do you think our nation is best served by a public/government military or a private military?

It is a myth that private always = greater efficiency than government.

I think our country is best served by a government military regardless of how utterly inefficient it is with tax dollars.

Then you have your example. Unless we want a government that is solely military, we have to take the good with the bad. Yes, it sucks, but that's reality.

You have driven on Interstate highways before right?

The argument sort of speaks for itself if you know what I mean?

II did not say it was efficient so how is that an example of how government is efficient? Its not.

    - - - Updated - - -

Yes I drive through those efficient expressways where they collect billions of dollars in tolls but can't seem to fix the roads.
