That argument might hold more weight if there were more research on effective contraceptives for men and less on "performance enhancing" medication

No you have not answered the question

Why should a man who has failed to prevent the pregnancy have a say in further prevention?

Because if it comes to term he's responsible for paying child support for 18 years, that's why.

Except their is a contraceptive for men, it's called a condom. Just like women have the pill. It falls on both to use protection. Neither method is a hundred percernt effective but you take every precaution that you can as a responsible adult.

The man failed to prevent it? Assuming the woman wasn't raped, didn't they both fail to prevent it? Where does the woman's consent come into play? Surely you're not suggesting she consented to having unprotected sex and then blamed it on the man for not preventing the whole thing, are you? That's essentially admitting that women are not equal to men because men have to be responsible for the whole deed and women can't be held accountable for their actions.

If the man doesn't want to get her pregnant, he needs to wear a condom, and not expect the woman to be on BC.

I do agree with the lifers that it is unfair to force a man to pay child support for a kid he never wanted. I have always supported you guys on that because I believe it is unfair.

That's my point, though. Why is the woman agreeing to have sex with a man that is not wearing a condom? Isn't she responsible enough to say no if he doesn't have one?

so much for the pro-murderer's point - "people shouldnt be punished for sex" - ehh??

seems like they just want to punish men for it instead.

She should be on BC AND the man should wear a rubber to ensure she takes every possible precaution. But if it fails and she gets pregnant, it is up to her what to do about it. The man accepts that when he has sex with her.

Moot point...Men have absolutely no rights when it comes to a pregnancy. Marriage is the only option but then, she could easily get a divorce. Take heed my brothers...This is the attitude you are up against...."So why do men seem to think that they have the right to control what a woman does with her own body?" Remember, whatever SHE decides (in the case of an 'unwanted' pregnancy) is going to be YOUR future.

I agree that they should both use protection. And even then if she becomes pregnant shouldn't they both have a voice since it is THEIR baby and not just hers? That's the responsible and mature thing to do. I would take all the necessary precautions but if I ended up impregnating a woman I would want that child even if it meant being a single parent. Taking responsibility and accepting the consequences of your actions is part of being an adult.

Not if you're a Liberal. Liberals believe the government should take on most of the responsibility, and generally do not believe there should be consequences for personal mistakes. This core belief explains much of the rest of their political positions, including on abortion.

And what you want is little different, you want the state to enforce a law that takes away the right of a woman to decide what to do with her own body, to do that the the government would have to take responsibility (as you put it) to ensure EVERY pregnant woman adhered to the law that would involve even more government intrusion into the life of the woman .. but you don't really care about that. Your ideological of smaller government with less intrusion makes absolutely no sense with your stance on abortion.

I'll tell you my political position, I am a paid up member of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) which is a right-wing political party - http://www.ukip.org/ who want less government intrusion (especially the EU) into British life and I have no problem with my political views when it comes to abortion, for me the two are inclusive .. the right for a person to decide their own choices.
US Right-wingers have no real idea what it really means, most just enjoy the parts that they cherry pick.

"Should" just doesn't cut the mustard in the REAL world.

Pretty funny how you ignore the entire history of humans..LOL! Ya, throughout 10,000 years of history there SHOULD have been more "shoulds" and everyone would've been perfect ...but, see, humans are not perfect, not even Anti-Choicer women haters..EVERYONE makes mistakes, EVERYONE SHOULD have done better but NO one is perfect, HUMANS make mistakes.

And how odd to have the attitude that if you make a mistake instead of rectifying it you wallow in it forever....that's just weird...and quite psychotic...

If you buy a car and it turns out to be a lemon , do you keep it forever to punish yourself for your mistake...wouldn't that be STUPID?

If food you bought turns out to be bad in some way do you REALLY eat it anyway because you made the mistake of buying bad food...that's really, sorry, but that's stupid!!!

Or do you just expect OTHER PEOPLE to suffer for their mistakes??? That is SICK!

Having an abortion is taking responsibility for a pregnancy, especially one that you may not want. Not taking responsibility would be just having the child and abandoning it. What you really meant to say is, liberals don't believe in the personal responsibility that you feel is right. That's the problem. You want to be in charge of the consequences, and not only that, you want to use the government to do it!. Life has to work the way YOU want, not the way each individual person may want, because you know what's best and the law should reflect only your values. That's hubris.

Yes...An abortion also includes the woman taking the responsibility for terminating developing human life. In our society today, some women believe that this is not morally wrong when done for convenience sake. Since men have 0 rights when it comes to sexual/childbirth matters, my advice is to steer clear of women who believe this because is shows a lack of a moral foundation which will most likely extend to other areas of their thinking.

What you fail to realize milady, is that the man contributes one half of the genetic code for the child that she is planning to abort, through sexual intercourse. So why is it women seem to think that they completely own this issue? Do they not owe their existence to a man? If it such a contention applies to men, so should it to a woman? No?

Only one person can decide what happens if both people disagree and the person with the final say is the woman because she is the one who is putting her life and health at risk to bring a person into the world.

I am certainly fine with men having their say on the matter, but ultimately the choice is hers.

I wonder how many Anti-Choicers make mistakes and then are stupid enough to wallow in them for the rest of their lives.......sounds like all of them.

They buy a "lemon" of a car but keep it forever rather than remedying the situation.

They buy a house with major problems but never fix the problems and never move.

They have jobs they hate but never change jobs.....

How stupid....what a wasteful, pathetic life they must live.....and it obviously makes them very angry and bitter and want everyone to be as stupid as they are.....it's quite amazing...

Why should woman have a say in whom will the defense minister will be although their contribution int the military is small or why should at least in Western society women have a say in AIDS prevention (in which men are by far more hit by HIV due to the high percentage of homosexuals), or why should they have a say when a man is killing a man?

Because it has a strong influence on our society and thats something politically interested people try to build their opinion on?

With that in mind the opening question is answered.

PS: How can come anyone to the idea that you have to be sorry for men for not getting pregnant and for having just an orgasm instead? I think that is absolutely ok that way ...
