Many people would be less hungry if we had more effective international oversight of the private sector.

Interesting. But do you think that people would be less or more hungry if our current capital goods were to disappear?

I think Keynes became more of an 'internationalist' (as opposed to 'statist') toward the end of his life: see his Bretton Woods proposal (1944) for a "clearing union" to which all nations would belong.

dont be silly. if he could have been the world's money Tzar he would have and wanted nothing more. He was a ego manic apostle.! Of course he thought homosexual sex was superior to heterosexual sex so that might have distracted him.

Imagine wanting to be the world's money Czar. Like as if one knew better than the free market about how money should work. Oh, the hubris.

You asked: "why does freedom need oversight?"
(Not to mention freedom from entrenched poverty!).

That's the same as asking: why has rule of law been developed, over time, by and for the community of self-interested individuals?

Re those self-interested individuals (ie, all of us), here are some of the factors directing our psychological dynamics:

    The Role Our Three Brains

    Name Location
Brain One Reptilian Brain: Brain stem and cerebellum
Brain Two Limbic system (old Mammalian Brain): Wrapped around brain one, includes amygdala and hippocampus
Brain Three Neocortex (“Thinking” Brain): Outside surface (wrapped around brain two)

Note the "thinking" brain bit (ie conscious reason): it's like the tip of an iceberg.....
    Do you understand?

    Why?
I understand that you oppose a free market in money and banking. It's just so surprising, because you put yourself out there as a free market guy.

Stalin and Mao had oversight and 120 million died. FDR had oversight and we had a 16 year depression and world war? Do you understand. The liberal looks to oversight like a child looks to Santa Claus. It is perfect immaturity

Capital goods: Food (and its distribution), housing materials, consumer goods etc?
Who is arguing for disappearance of those?

The question is which goods and services are most efficiently produced by the private, and which (often essential) services can be more sustainably produced/managed by an effective public sector.

Not to mention the many deadly products produced by the drive for private profit, eg the arms trade; your prosperity is partly propped up by sales of weapons to eg, Saudi Arabia, prolonging a conflict currently recognised by the UN as the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in the world. Then there's grog, gambling, unhealthy processed food, aided and abetted by a mindless advertising industry.

Why do we need socialism of money and banking to have stable prices? Wow, I never thought you'd turn out to be such a commie.

No. Capital goods: Steel mills, mining machines, lathes, milling machines, welding torches. You know, capital goods. Those things that are used in the production of consumer goods.

Do you think that if all these things disappeared people would be more or less hungry?

I see that you are an opponent of the free market. Okay. I misunderstood your posts.
I have a defense of free market money. Here it is: It's what the market wants.
