... if the only people in your country that had firearms were criminals, the police, the military and the government (aka the alphabet agencies)?

    A bit of history.

    1911 – Turkey disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1915 – 1917 they murdered 1.5 million Armenians.
    1929 – Russia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1929 – 1953 they murdered 20 million Russians.
    1935 – China disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1948 – 1952 they murdered 20 million Chinese.
    1938 – Germany disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1939 – 1945 they murdered 16 million Jews.
    1956 – Cambodia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1975 – 1977 they murdered 1 million Educated people.
    1964 – Guatamala disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1964 – 1981 they murdered 100,000 Mayan Indians.
    1970 – Uganda disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1971 – 1979 they murdered 300,000 Christians.

But the liberals promised us that that's all just a big conspiracy theory and none of it happened and it could never happen here.

The government also got the Indians to give up their guns and look how it turned out for them.

Nobody wants to ban all guns. Just the most dangerous guns.

Then after we ban the most dangerous guns, they'll wanna ban the next most dangerous guns. And so on.

..so, ya, they wanna ban all the guns. Just not all at once!

Ya, they got to lock up all their vaccine hesitants in camps. Nobody could do anything about it. Yay for the police having a monopoly on the use of force! I can think of more than a few folks who were musing about doing that here...

Indeed. Start with the scariest-looking ones (theirs, the liberals, opinions), then work your way down to BB guns.

The big question is why does a politician want law-abiding citizens to give up their AR-15? Yes, I said "law-abiding".

You forgot to add Australia, UK, Canada, to name a few, as countries where tens of millions were killed off....oh wait.

I do not support disarming citizens. Let me repeat that for those a tad bit dense...I. Do. Not. Support. Disarming. Citizens.

That being said you seem to forget one thing...the US isn't a dictatorship. You seem to forget we have a govt set up with checks and balances. There is a reason our founding fathers set up our govt the way they did. There is a reason why there is a House and Senate with two different parties making up those chambers, as well as Executive and Judicial branches.

For you, or anyone else to believe our govt wants to "control" all citizens you would have to believe Republicans also want to do this, right? You would have to think this because you know how our govt is set up (at least I would hope so) and therefore know the Dems can't just do whatever they want, right? If they could in fact do whatever they wanted then AR's would already be federally banned. But alas, they are not, thankfully.

I'm pro 2nd Amendment, but I have to take issue with the characterization of Germany here. The Nazi EXPANDED the right of their citizens to keep and bear arms. They did not take that right away from their citizens. Only non-citizens had that right taken away.

And I know it was a typo, but of course it was roughly 6 million Jews, not 16 million.

The poll is a blatant false dichotomy. It could be both safety and control.

We have more restrictive gun laws in Canada than you do in the USA. Not only am I not dead, but I feel much safer standing in Windsor, Ontario looking across the water to Detroit than I would in Detroit looking towards Windsor.

    1) to pander to those who hate guns
    2) to pretend he is doing something to increase public safety, while not doing anytime to upset the criminals this politician counts as supporters
    3) to punish people who don't normally support his election
    4) because he does stuff that might cause honest folks to want to shoot him
    5) because he is terrified to handle a gun safely and he wants to keep people like him from mishandling guns

In response to the question asked in the topic line: no.

The reason? I already feel safe. I am not armed, own no guns, and walk where I wish without fear. I cannot feel 'safer'.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well . . . 'n un-shot.

you remind me of a doctor friend of my late relative -they both worked out of Yale/New Haven hospital where my late relative was a professor of Psychiatric Medicine. This doctor friend of this late relative felt the same way about guns from what the man I called "Uncle Dick" told me. That was until he was beaten unconscious and his wife and daughters raped and murdered. It's a famous case, you can look it up

Was it a home invasion? That's all I saw. Even if one has a gun in the house there is no guarantee one can get to it in time depending on how the invasion goes down. Crap happens. Nothing is ever foolproof.

    Hi, Turtledude.

The 'argument' from anecdotal evidence.is a well-known and well-documented logical fallacy. Consider it refuted.

When did AUS, CAN and the UK have genocide via the disarming of the populace? No, I did not forget to mention it. The countries that disarmed their people were listed.

The founding fathers of the US saw what was coming, that of which is beginning to happen in the US, it is becoming a tyrannical state. Have you noticed the BS going on in California? The poster child state for what the current administration wants for the rest of the US.

What you fail to understand is that the vast majority of world governments have been infiltrated and corrupted. The Dems are doing what they want. Open your eyes!

Had it occurred to you that the "poll" is from the OP's perspective? As the OP points out what happens to disarmed populations? There's no safety in that!
