Oh boy - let's start banning everything because in stupid people's hands, it will be used irresponsibly. Should we outlaw dryers, because a very small number of people will attempt to put someone in it and turn it on? LMAO!
If it was your child, how many would it take? Legalizing it state by state has made it easier to get. Does that apply to a fifteen year old trying to look grown up or going along with the crowd?
Not what I asked you. I asked you how many teens are alcoholics Nope...pot has always been easy to get. Yes it does apply to the 15 yr old. I was 15 once too...know what I never did to go along with the crowd? Smoke a cigarette. Never tried it, despite peer pressure to do so.
Mainly it's just speed traps for out of towners. That's why I drive at or below the speed limit in small Southern towns. I have FL plates, I know they want to charge me the Florida Driver in Georgia (or Alabama) tax.
Here are some facts about underage drinking in the United States: 35% of 15-year-olds have consumed alcohol in their lifetime 10% of 8th graders drank some amount of alcohol in the past 30 days 35% of high school students drank some amount of alcohol in the past 30 days 68% of 12th graders have tried alcohol at least once 8.7 million people aged 12–20 consumed alcohol in the past month People aged 12–20 drink 11% of all alcohol consumed 52% of 10th graders believe it’s easy to obtain alcohol Underage Binge Drinking Stats On average, a teen drinks more alcohol in a single sitting than adults do. This is a problem known as “binge drinking” (or consuming an excessive amount over a short period of time). This is often the case for a many college underclassmen and a large percentage of high schoolers who drink at parties and social events. The excitement of drinking, mixed with peer pressure and an overabundance of alcoholic beverages, can cause kids to drink excessively and get dangerously inebriated. High school binge drinking statistics include: 1 in 6 teens binge drinks Only 1% of parents believe their teen binge drinks 21% of high school students binge drank within the past 30 days 90% of alcohol consumed by teens involves binge drinking 4,300 underage deaths are caused by excessive drinking each year 189,000 ER visits in 2010 were related to underage drinking In 2013, approximately 1.4 million people aged 12–20 engaged in heavy drinking, which is consuming 5 drinks or more on at least 5 occasions over the span of a month. https://www.therecoveryvillage.com/teen-addiction/teen-drinking-stats/#gref
I'm just confused where to draw the line on banning things that a percentage of people will use improperly. So, dryer abuse is fine. What about people who microwave cats? Ban microwaves? Cell phones cause far more car accidents than pot, yet no cry for a ban on cell phones. Quit taking away other people's freedom based on your random criteria of things you don't personally use.
Nothing random about them. I have seen these problems up close and personal. Then you are not listening. Both my wife and I have had to run off the road to keep from being hit by people on their damn precious phones.
You are right. I am better than that. Some things bother me. Defending marijuana as being harmless is one of them.
You have already admitted that there are several things that people use incorrectly, yet you only want pot banned. Do you want prohibition back, too? Does your plan include outlawing cigarettes? I'm just trying to find your line. Of all drugs, pot is the least problematic, by orders of magnitude. We are hypocrites for banning pot while alcohol and cigarettes, both demonstrably more dangerous, continue to be legal.
seriously? you’ve never smelled a cigarette from another driver? or bubble gum vapes? what was it you said? oj yeah, bullshit.
Driving down the road? No, I smell odoriferous emanations while behind vehicles, not "window to window". The only way you'd smell that "window to window" is while stopped.
You also border Montana and Utah where medical marijuana is legal. You're almost surrounded! Maybe you need to move to Wyoming.
If I thought it could be done, I would ban things in this order. Cigarettes Alcohol Pott Texting while driving. There are probably a few others I might stick in there if I thought of them. But those are high on my list.
Texting while driving is already illegal in my state. Pro tip - making something illegal doesn't make the problem go away.
