I think this will be interesting. Let's discuss the policies of the other Party and see if what they think makes sense. I myself can find several things I disagree with in both Parties. Maybe we can come to an agreement on some of them, or change some people's minds if your willing to keep an open view of things. That I doubt though.
Good discussion .... wrong forum. I hate that the GOP wants to pass laws on morality. I hate that the Democratic Party is the Party of huge payoffs to BIG UNIONS, CRONY CAPITALISTS, and is truly for the rich and poor, but against the middle class.
The only GOP policy which isn't stupid is that we shouldn't reward illegal immigrants with government benefits. Every other piece of the Republican platform is pure crap.
Republicans- 1. Government legislated morality 2. Unintelligent economic policy 3. Unwillingness to compromise 4. Lack of Constitutional policy 5. A party of big business, not we the people Democrats- 1. Government legislated morality 2. Unintelligent economic policy 3. Unwillingness to compromise 4. Lack of Constitutional policy 5. A party of big business and the poor, but not the average American
Free trade. Private central fiat currency. Interventionism. Support of global entities, such as U.N. and WTO. The war over social policy, a place the federal government has no jurisdiction, but both parties cling to, to mask the fact they are the same as to the 1st 4 things I listed. Lobbying. Patriot Act. NDAA. Things of this nature, like Garden Plot.
I am against the Republican stand of not taxing the rich more. They are paying some of the lowest taxes since the 30' and 40's. Using the excuse of taxing them more hurts jobs is a farce, they aren't creating many jobs now. I am against the Democratic stand of wanting to make more and more companies union to bring up wages. The only way we are going to bring jobs back is when our wages are steady and the wages of China, India and Mexico come up and fuel prices go up so it's no longer profitable to ship those jobs out, or keep them over seas. We can't expect to force unions on companies and have them compete with the low wages in China and Mexico, it only drives more out of the country.
Very slick. There are too many policies, on both sides of the aisle to name. In short, they are two sides of the same corrupt coin, spewing out laws that are poorly written, badly thought out, and selectively enforced. In general, we need LESS government. Like Tacitus said, "The more corrupt the government, the more numerous the laws".
The Democrats are not perfect, just preferable. My reasons for saying so have been covered in approx 137 letters and many more posts. I've gone to a lot of trouble and expense reading up on the issues, and most of the repub stands and justifications for those stands are pure crap on almost any level. On a very personal level, I also don't like swift boaters. I read up on that too (as well as serving in RVN) and the swift boaters were and are lying scum. I will probably post more letters, but the GOP is so full of it on almost everything that it's hard to keep up with them. They are not only stupid AND ignorant, they're PROUD of it.
I am against the Republican stand on not using unused stem cells for research. I think there is a good chance of curing people with disabling disabilities with it. I think the Democrats are wrong in not allowing us to make English our official language and for being against ID to vote. It doesn't put a hard ship on the poor or the old. Old people would need it to collect Social Security anyway. It is much harder for the poor to do things without an ID. They can't open a bank account. Can't cash a check, get a book out of the library, can't fly, go out of the country, rent a car, etc. I don't know how anyone can lead a life now days without an ID. Hell, you can't even collect welfare without one.
Both Parties spend too much Both Parties Grow the government Both Parties are corrupt Both Parties do not adhere to the constitution like they should Both Parties reduce our liberties
In spite of Clinton saying that he put an end to the poor using welfare as a way of life, the Democrats are still doing it. Here is a prime example of it. http://hdavidbrown.posterous.com/welfare-26373
I am sick of listening to Democrats talking about how rich the rich are and talking about redistributing the wealth. We have always had the real wealthy with us, only now we have more poor. They are poor because our stupid government (both sides are responsible) gave our Middle Class jobs away and the only way to really bring up the poor is through jobs. We aren't going to do that by taxing corporations more as they have always wanted to do. Or by forcing unions on them as they want to do now. Hopefully Obama is serious in wanting to give companies tax breaks to companies willing to move their business here. I don't put a lot of hope in that as it goes against everything the Democrats believe in.
I am sick of hearing Republicans say they will never buy a vehicle from Chrysler or GM, (Government Motors) as they like to call them. Yes, it would have been better at the time to let them go under and reorganize, although I doubt Chrysler would have been able to come back. But what is done is done and to boycott their vehicles now would only make things worse. They are rid of most of that debt except what they owe the government and if they go under now because Republicans are to stupid to support them, hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost, (some say over a million and a half) along with billions of dollars never to be paid back. Their stupidity only hurts this country and I can't believe they can't see that.
People are dumb not to buy Chevy's. I had a Ford once and loved it, Bronco II, but (*)(*)(*)(*) that thing was expensive to fix. My Chevy is die hard. Fix it for $1 type stuff.
They won't buy them because they are bad cars, we are putting out some very good cars today. They are not buying them because the Government bailed them out with billions of dollars. But they are willing to throw billions more away along with hundreds of thousands of jobs, by boycotting them. Well we spent three and four times that much bailing out the banks and I'll bet most of those Republicans are still using those same banks, which shows you how stupid their logic is.
democrats ................. -oil policies -views on illegal immigration and border protection -pandering to those on welfare to keep their votes -highly dangerous socialistic views -hypocritical and unfair views on race issues -liberal indoctrination in schools and universities -too weak to lead a military -how they childishly try to discredit people -certain views on abortion -want us to be a nanny state, want too much control of our lives -2nd amendment rights and how they wish to take them away -1st amendment only applies to them -tolerant towards religion as long as its not christian republicans .................. -backbone to run the military but a lil too gung ho with our troops -abortion views -views on gays and gay marriage -education -dont follow through with tough words on illegal immigrants -religion is fine but too gung ho with it
I am against the Democrats and their views on illegal immigration. There refusal to secure our border. Obama is afraid to even go to the border in Arizona, knowing they will show him what a liar he is when he said the border is secure. He refuses to expel illegals found using forged Social Security papers and ID's to get jobs Americans are begging for. Prevented our law enforcement from throwing those out they catch, unless they commit some big crime. I thought stealing people's ID and Social Security number was a big crime. But Obama is playing for the Hispanic vote now for the election.
Republican policies are often times not conservative enough. And Democratic policies are just completely ass backwards. They are the equivalent of showering with dirt and drying with water.
I can't stand Republicans on social conservative matters. I also hate how they stand for big corporations and see that they get excessive tax breaks. Democrats can go overboard on bureaucratic bull(*)(*)(*)(*) at times. And there also in bed with big corporations, just not to the degree Republicans are.
I agree completely, HB Surfer. Here is the problem both I and others have with the Democrats. For years, the progressive Democrats have cloaked their agenda using words like underprivileged, fairness, compassionate, disenfranchise, victim while labeling any oppossion extremest, racist, homophobic, ignorant or uncaring. They view division as an essential tool, using it to separate the citizenry based on normally selfish social issues, then presenting themselves as the only real advocates for each cause. Progressives are ruthless in their tactics and although what they seldom deliver positive results, their "feel good" rhetoric remains socially popular among many uneducated voters because the message relinquishes the individual, the victim, of any personal responsibly. However, the apparent success of this tactic can be seen by the number of congressional seats the Democrats lost last during our last (2010) national election. (Source: way2convey)
Any complaints towards Republicans, James Cessna? After all, this thread is devoted to a more equitable discussion.
