Because its a jewish holocaust museum. so their focus is on the jews. However they acknowledge the deaths of others in the camps and have EXTENSIVE documentation and exhibits in this regard. Really? 25 million died in the camps? Perhaps you can provide us all with some evidence. Yes the jews are associated almost exclusively to the term holocaust. That is because they are the only trans national group (apart from the socio/economic unempowered gypsies) and consequently in every nation they live in, they have made efforts to ensure the memory is never forgotten and the world understands what "NEVER AGAIN" actually means. I don't think anyone denies all the other deaths. yes its is weird that many seem to be in command of half the facts and a whole opinion.
Not the point, even if I think that number is inflated as well. Alfalfa says 25 million NON-Jews died, you then say the number was inflated to 25 million Jews. How you got from Alfalfa's number to your own is a bit surprising, but then again, almost any argument Denialists make is equally a surprise.
BTW - Did check that number and I did add it wrong, it should have been "over 20 million" and it includes non-Jews who were simply gunned down (as does the 6 million Jews who also were murdered, not all in camps). A better way to have put it would have been "Over 20 million non-Jews were killed by the nazis in the holocaust." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust Go to "Victims and Death Toll". Yes it's Wiki, but every one of these numbers is sourced below.
You see, this is is exactly what I'm talking about. NO, it isn't a "Jewish Holocaust Museum", it's the UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM but you only see it as a Jewish facility. You just proved my point. Then later you make the case that HOLOCAUST can only be associated with Jews because the other 20 million that died weren't "trans-national" or were "socio/economic unempowered "...as if that should make a difference. Again you proved my point that for some the suffering of Jews during the holocaust was more important than anyone elses.
Yes its a jewish facility. way to mischaracterize and ignore a whole bunch of other criteria as to why the holocaust is associated mostly with jews. No, not more important, different. So different as to warrant special attention. typical tactics of mischaracterization, cherry picking and leaps of logic from the intellectually dishonest.
I am well aware of the numbers, which is why I challenged you on your death camp contention. Glad you learned something. - - - Updated - - - that is exactly what he is saying.
When you say "Shoah" I'm assuming you're speaking of the Yiddish term for holocaust, except it specifically means "jewish holocaust" and not the holocaust 20 million others experienced. Because you know, they were two different holocausts. To answer your question, I would say ask the 12 million slavs, 5 million POW's, 2 million Poles and 1.5 million Roma's if they think the jewish holocaust was "unique". This is hilarious because with every post you and others prove my original point.
This isn't the first - or the last! - time that a special interest group has claimed false or exaggerated victimhood. Right now, we have women and minorities claiming oppression by rich and middle-class white males for political expediency. It's actually quite disgusting, and disrespects the memory of the many millions of non-Jews who were brutally murdered in the "Jewish" genocide.
They're allowed to portray almost exclusively Jewish suffering there because it's a Jewish facility, and it's a Jewish facility because Jews are portrayed as the victims there - duh! At least, that's the kind of circular reasoning I'm expecting to be expectorated from Jonsa...
Jonsa, my intent isn't to minimize or trivialize the suffering and losses of European Jews during the holocaust, only to point out there was a whole lot of those losses and that suffering going around to a bunch of people...three times + the number of Jews who died. IMO Jews don't do themselves any good by trying to make the holocaust a Jewish only travesty...or putting the Jews front and center as if the suffering and losses of others wasn't felt as deeply by non Jews. In fact, IMO, they would benefit by representing the holocaust as an incredible travesty and violation of human rights of ALL humanity and that in effect, we're all in this together as human beings in terms of making sure it doesn't happen again. Hitler and the nazis were successful in exterminating so many Jews because they were able to separate and personalize Jews as not being worthy of human rights and beneath the "master race". But how is that different then putting the suffering of Jews, the "chosen people" above that of others? They're simply two sides of the same coin.
Not too fret. The Holocaust was way, way back in the day -- in the 1940s. It's history. And Schindler's List ... was but yet another Hollywood movie. This is the modern age. This is the 21st century. Things like Holocausts, 9/11's, revolutions, etc., just don't happen anymore. Sleep tight, amiguito.
This thread is a perfect example. The title is ""Prevent another Holocaust" and the lead in comment is this... "So I'm watching Schindler's List, thinking to myself how would we ever prevent such a thing happening to the Jews again." What about the other 20 million non Jew civilians that died at the hands of the nazis in their extermination program? So the OP just wants to prevent another extermination of Jews but not anyone else? Maybe "Hollywood" could make some movies about the losses and suffering of ALL THE OTHER VICTIMS OF THE NAZI HOLOCAUST! Ooops, ain't ever going to happen. I'm surprised some enterprising "partisans" haven't copyrighted and trademarked the word "holocaust" yet.
