John Lewis is considered a cvil rights icon for his role as the head of SNCC, one of the Big Six organizers of the March on Washington, as a long time member of the Democratic House leadership, and for a lifelong commitment to civil rights.
Donald Trump is known for hatemongering and fleecing people out of money. He isn't fit to hold John Lewis' jockstrap.

    Proof? How about history?

The Democrats were violently opposed to civil rights. Democratic governors and mayors were the one's to order their police departments to attack marching blacks.

    You really don't know this?

Normal Americans are the who don't live in California or New York. They are not liberals/progressives/socialists who live in echo chambers. They live in most of the country, except for the coasts and a few inland leftist strongholds.

And in his late 70s, Lewis is a hateful, inarticulate old man who has become the face of the Democratic Party, along with Nancy Pelosi and other old, out of touch senior citizens who are resistant to change and diverse ideas.

So, I completely disagree with you thinking that John Lewis is hateful or inarticulate, of course you have a right to your opinion, but isn't the more important discussion to be had here is ,why John Lewis or anybody else is questioning trump's legitimancy?
I questioned trump's legitimacy the night of the election, not only because of his involvement with Russia, but I also think somehow the numbers got skewed, no,can't prove a thing, there are just to many "ODD" things that occurred that defy the statistics-I have, since, the election named those odd occurrences several times on this forum--
Why can't we just once discuss the reason's why there are investigations going on instead of insulting,I do not know one American citizen that does not want America to succeed, if there are doubts, isn't it better to get answers now ?

You bring up a great point, why is Lewis and other leftists questioning Trump's legitimacy?

If Hillary had won, I'm sure Trump and other right wingers would have questioned the legitimacy of her victory, what with the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens voting. And indeed, Obama himself encouraged illegal aliens to vote:

    http://www.dailywire.com/news/10546/did-obama-encourage-illegal-immigrants-vote-james-barrett

And I'm sure dozens of Republicans would have boycotted Clinton's inaugural ceremony, pointing ut that her presidency was illegitimate.

    Or maybe not...

Not sure. And don't really care.

But if you'd like to agree that Lewis, like Trump, is a hateful, inarticulate old man, I'm down...

Yeah? And what was the ideology those southern Democrats identified with? You think they were a bunch of hippie liberals? Or a bunch of "states rights" conservatives who today vote for the GOP?

You do realize your messiah Trump is from New York, right? Granted, he isn't normal at all, so you may have a point.

They identified as Democrats. They were Democrats. They overwhelmingly opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In fact, 18 Democratic senators (and one Republican) began a filibuster to prevent the passage of the bill.

Democratic senator Robert Byrd, a former KKK leader from W. Virginia, was the star of the filibuster, going on for over 14 hours. This is the same racist Robert Byrd who Hillary Clinton called a hero when he died, and said:

“It is almost impossible to imagine the United States Senate without Robert Byrd. He was not just its longest serving member, he was its heart and soul. From my first day in the Senate, I sought out his guidance, and he was always generous with his time and his wisdom."

    http://observer.com/2010/06/hillary-clinton-remembers-friend-and-mentor-robert-byrd/

This is part of the liberal/progressive/socialist mindset that a racist is OK to support as long as he supports Team Blue. Disgusting, isn't it?

Not my messiah; he's a clown who just happened to be a much better choice than the corrupt and evil Hillary Clinton. He wasn't my first, second, third or tenth choice. But any logical adult realizes what a horrible president Hillary would have been, right? Who knows how many wars she would have started, or how much she would have trampled our rights as part of her progressive plans.

If not for marring Bill, Hillary would be a junior college professor in California, whose students made fun of her because she's a bit smelly. Somehow, in the crazy world of leftist politics, she is supposed to be a feminist icon because she married well?

I really don't get you leftists...

Sore losers? Really? After the merciless assaults on Obama by the right for 8 years, do you really think there is any honesty to that statement at all? You folks need to brace yourselves for a good thrashing until trump is impeached. You have it coming so stop whining like spoiled snowflakes.

Actually, it was Obama who failed to moderate his views after the Democrats were thrashed by the Republicans in the 2010 and 2014 midterms. I explain it here, but I can't get any thoughtful liberals/progressives/socialists to counter my argument:

    http://www.politicalforum.com/polit.../491905-why-obama-failed-his-second-term.html

Bill Clinton and Reagan showed the importance of the president who loses his party's control of congress working with the opposition to get things done. Obama failed to do this...

Yeah, they were Democrats...but not liberal/progressive/socialist as you put it. As for Byrd, he renounced his views many years ago, and ended up receiving lots of support and respect from the NAACP. People change. Now look at Trump Supporter David Duke, a registered GOP voter who has NEVER renounced his views.

The fact of the matter is...those southern "states rights" Democrats were conservatives who found a home in the GOP after the civil rights act was passed. The Northern liberals took over the party, and they felt left out/ignored. Today, those same voters voted for Trump, and want NOTHING to do with the Democrats.

You voted for him because he was the GOP nominee. A logical adult knows that a corrupt incompetent scumbag like Trump belongs on reality T.V. and nowhere NEAR the oval office. Even your own party wanted nothing to do with him. He sucks, period, and how bad Hillary Clinton is doesn't change that fact.

Your obsession with Hillary is duly noted. Not sure why you have such hatred for Donald Trump's friend.

Former Black Panther: ‘John Lewis Is the Illegitimate Congressman’ .....

In an interview with Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” former Black Panther Mason Weaver said Monday that Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), who was brutally beaten during a march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., in 1965, was demonstrating against Democrats at the time, then he later “joined the oppressors” in “presiding over the destruction of the black community.”

“Mr. Lewis, you have presided over the destruction of black America, and you owe us an apology, and matter of fact, … he’s more concerned about Trump being the illegitimate president. Well, John Lewis is the illegitimate

In the early 70s and late 60s, we were demonstrating and protesting for the right to compete as adult citizens in America. We were not demonstrating to be taken care of,” said Weaver.

Weaver said Lewis “joined the oppressors and became a stool to them where he was now sitting and presiding over the destruction of the black community, the destruction of the black men, the destruction of the black woman with drugs and gangs.”

Weaver also said that Lewis “has presided over the worst school system in the world.”

“I’m outraged that the demonstration that he had earlier in his life has turned into a subjugation of his rights and authority at the black leader,” Weaver said of Lewis. congressman,” Weaver said.

Its like I have mentioned before. Blacks are learning just how deviate Democrats are, and they are beginning to step out and speak about it.

    Yawn.

If Byrd happened to be a Republican, he would have never been "forgiven" for his change of heart when he was what, about 50 years old?

He is the perfect example of a corrupt Democratic Party that is more interested in power than the success of the United States. One thing Trump has done is bring that 'Team Blue' mindset to the repubs, which is why the left is having such a fit. And although he was not my choice, I'm enjoying showering in leftist tears as they cry and whine about being kicked out of power by the American people.

And FYI, I didn't vote for either, deciding to go third party this election. And while I expect Trump to be a train wreck, the country can survive him, much as it survived the extremest and divisive Obama administration.

Not sure if we would we have survived the corruption Hillary and her ilk would have brought.

And not obsessed; merely pointing out yet another sign of how wacky leftists are:

Why was a woman, who if she hadn't married the right fella would have never come within sniffing distance of the presidency, let along any political office, be considered to break a glass ceiling?

Only in loony leftist land can such a woman be held up as a feminist icon...

    Sure he would.

Both parties are more interested in power than the success of the United States. And considering that the entire establishment GOP loathes Trump probably even more than the Democrats do...what "team blue" mindset is he supposedly bringing? Do you understand that your own damn party did EVERYTHING possible to stop him from winning the nomination?

Considering that Trump is arguably more corrupt than Hillary, I'm not sure if I agree with your hyperbole. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

I don't know. Why would a guy who spent the majority of his 70 years of life supporting liberal positions, donating to Democrats, praising the Clinton's, calling for universal healthcare, claiming he's pro choice, suddenly in the last two years, become some faux champion of conservatism? I mean your ilk who has spent years claiming they are tired of so called "RINO's"...just voted for the biggest "RINO" of them all. Seriously, before calling anyone else "wacky", perhaps tell your right wing brethren to look in the mirror first.

The Team Blue win at all costs mentality.

The reason there was such a strong (but not strong enough, apparently) Never Trump movement among conservatives was because Trump did not have conservative principles. When the Republicans controlled the senate in year's past, they never seriously considered using the "nuclear option" like Harry Reid and the Democrats did. Republicans haven't hired political operatives to disrupt Hillary's rallies, as the Dems did with Robert Creamer.

And they lost in 2008 and 2012.

You didn't see principled Democrats mounting a "Never Hillary" movement, even after what her campaign and the DNC did to Sanders in the primaries. Hillary was such a flawed and corrupt politician, yet even the Bernie supporters couldn't come out and say Never Hillary.

Democrats rarely disavow the actions of their supporters, but Republicans are asked to do so all the time. And they do.

Democrats possess a win at any cost mentality. As does Trump, and now, apparently, Republicans.

He might very well be. He's certainly been shady in his business practices. But he'd need decades of political corruption to rise to the level of Hillary.

I agree with most of what you say here. Republican voters became angry when the Repub leaders in the house and senate failed to confront Obama's leftist agenda, and in Trump they saw someone who would fight in the gutter, I guess.

Dems constantly fight in the gutter, they recognize their voters want them to win and honor that. Voters handed Boehner and McConnell majorities in the house and senate, yet these establishment repubs did nothing with it. Trump, as liberal as he is in some cases, portrayed himself as someone who would fight and voters responded.

Sadly, Republican voters saw in Trump someone who wouldn't let his principles get in the way of obtaining victory, would get in the gutter to win, would win at all costs, regardless of what it did to the country.

So you're correct, they picked the closest thing to a Democrat they could..

Putin may not be perfect, but he's a hell of a lot better ally than a bunch of Saudi's who were behind 9/11 and most assuredly are still funding terror groups to this day.

Heh, this is a load of dung and you know it. The evidence shows us that Trump received roughly the same amount of support that previous GOP candidates like Bush, McCain, and Romney did. Hillary on the other hand, received less support than Obama DESPITE more people voting in 2016 compared to 2012. So, going by the numbers, the Democrat voting base actually somewhat abandoned their candidate compared to GOP voters for the most part backing their candidate like they did previous candidates. So, the "NeverTrump" movement turned out to be a complete farce, as GOP voters voted for their parties nominee like the good little lemmings they are.

So, are you saying people can't change? Look, I don't like Sessions or his politics, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to our new AG that he is no longer racist. Like Byrd, Sessions seems to have learned from his mistakes in the past. I believe people can change.

Republicans have always possessed that mentality.

Well, him and Hillary were friends so...

Right, so at the end of the day...GOP voters aren't as conservative as they claim, because if they were, Ted Cruz would have been your parties nominee. Yet they chose a big government liberal as their new president. Interesting times indeed.

For five years Trump made the claim that Obama was not born in the US.

For the next 4 years, I will make the claim that Trump colluded with the Russians to
get him into the White House. So he could remove the sanctions, disband NATO,
and allow Russia to do what they wish in Europe and the Middle East.

    Remember, Trump is President now.

    Facts don't matter.

Hillary did not have the same racial loyalty that was shown to Obama. And old, leftist rich white woman, she excited white liberals but blacks recognized her as simply another pandering politician. I've observed that Hillary will be the last white person to run as a Democratic presidential candidate as only a minority candidate will ensure a minority turnout. This is what identity politics as practiced by liberals/progressives/socialists brings. And why the Democratic Party has evolved into a regional, fringe party.

You make my point about Team Blue perfectly here. Comparing a KKK leader like Byrd to Sessions is revolting. And leftists will continue this nonsense when they make the racist extremest Keith Ellison their party leader.

Actually, Cruz was mostly successful in those states that had closed primaries, where only registered Republicans could select a candidate. But it shows why Trump was so successful in drawing the union vote, amongst other traditional liberal/progressive/socialist voters.

These will be interesting times, that's for sure...
