The Democrat party hasn't had a new idea more like for 40 years. The counter culture (New Left) gained control of the Democrat party forty years ago and became the Democrat establishment who are still in control today.

The Clinton's, Bernie, even Obama who was to young but still a wannabe are nothing more than burned out hippies stuck in the sixties.

The "New Left" today hide behind the progressive label but actually they aren't true progressives but something else further to the extreme alt-left.

It was twenty or so years ago when the Democrat establishment abandoned "Middle America" and abandoned the white working middle class. Today the Democrats only represent minorities based upon race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference and radical activist.

The Republican party has remade itself numerous times, 1964, 1980, neocons came in control around 1996 and again the GOP is in the process remaking itself today. While the Democrats are still stuck in the 1960's.
