That revealed the real relationship between the leaders of law enforcement and the cartels. Everyone ignored the obvious.

We took that position during WWII, not responding until after we were attacked.

How many lives would have been spared if we were proactive instead of reactive?

Most of the world is at the mercy of genocide because they have done a piss poor job of preparing for it. So I agree with you, it puts us in a bad position.

I just think it's wrong to sleep at night knowing evil is perpetrating humanitarian crimes and though we have the means.. we do nothing.

It would have to be an all out war on their processing and refinery locations. Would definitely be whack-a-mole for a while.

Additionally, a declaration of war on the cartels would take the gloves off on what is and what is not legal in going after them.

If we put all of our resources into a military solution, instead of a "policing" solution, we could kill em ded.

Not an option for the USG. Local militias might fight a total war on the cartels - Western governments? No.

Your doubts about the capability of US intelligence and power is noted. Misguided, but noted.

Where is Teddy Roosevelt when you need him???

He'd have this whole thing sorted out in a week.

If they had brains they wouldn't go up against the US military.

To be fair, the war on drugs is a huge advantage for the cartels. I hope this turns out to be more than words.

I’ve thought about this, and yeah ....

I’d support treating the cartels exactly like Al Qaeda or ISIS.

Drone strikes, special forces raids, etc.

Hell, Mexico has given up its sovereignty to the cartels anyway.

We ran into the same problem with the mafia.

It took "RICO" to take them down.

I would be willing the bet the US intelligence agencies already have bullseye on the cartels. Their facilities, their leaders...

We aren't as stupid as you think we are.

It wouldn't take many runs.. Just pick a nice place with lots of eyes and demonstrate what WWII looked like and then wait for the formal surrender ;)

The USG has not won a decisive unambiguous victory in war since 1945, and "American "intelligence" had been an oxymoron even before Pearl Harbor.

Yeah, what I meant was we have to take the gloves off.

As you said, we only lose because hands get tied with stupid rules.

If we want to take them down, we can do it with the right authority to do so.

The US has never, since 1945, fully engaged our military. Instead, our legislators have elected to hamstring power for political purposes and politicizing our efforts.

When the government realizes the military has the strategic leadership and trained brass to get the job done... AND LETS THEM DO IT, we are capable of achieving victory. We haven't actually declared war since WWII. How PC is that?

    Just curious, are you American?

It is definitely a fight worth fighting, and the kill ratio was very heavily in our favor in both those wars. The battlefield wasnt the problem in those wars, it was/is the politicians.

Yes! How many B52s would love to com out of retirement for another flight! Poor planes.

I Propose complete carpet bombing along the Mexican border, a 3 day evacuation warning of course. Then a DMZ established similar to that of NK and SK! We need to let these people know we mean business. Bye bye Tiajuana!

Too bad my proposal won't go into effect. :(
