Visa overstays are in our system, illegal invaders are not. You can begin the deportation process on overstays without actually having contact with them. Illegal invaders must first be caught before any of the process can begin. The wall addresses a significant problem whether you admit it or not.

a wall is entirely useless for stopping illegal entry, illegal drug smuggling etc. The majority of illegals are visa overstays, not illegal border crossers. The Majority of illegal drugs smuggled into the country, come through legal ports of entry, not illegal border crossings. A 30 ft wall is easily defeated with a ladder, or spade shovel. This is just reality.
