Nope. Number one in per capita gun deaths is Alaska. Why?

 

I am not asking the US to give up the guns. I want access to them made more difficult, including on a less impulsive basis. I can get a handgun legally in Australia but it will take me at least 12 months from when I first thought of getting it. A rifle is easier to get, but I cannot just walk into a gun shop and buy one. I will be put through scrutiny by authority, made to join a shooters club, get some experience on the range before I can have the rifle. Even then, there are conditions on storage and capacity to carry it around with me.

 

Of course they don't work. I mean smuggling guns across the border is impossible, isn't it?

I keep saying over and over again, guns don't kill people, Australians on average have about 3 guns per person yet our gun crime rate is drastically lower. Why ... Attitude. Gun laws do not stop law abiding citizens with a reason to own a gun from owning one. Changing the gun laws won't change a thing, it is when the people WANT to change the laws that a difference will occur.
I honestly don't think a significant number of Americans are mature enough for a change to make any difference.

 

I think that in general, Americans have a complete disregard for human life.

 

Americans have been feed so much bull from the gun lobby and the extreme right that they are defecating themselves.
If these so called patriots really loved their country they would try and make it better not worry about blowing each others heads off.
America lost more men fighting each other then they have in all other wars combined, and from what I see it was for nothing. It's still as divided today.
What gets me is how easy it is to suck them in.

 

There are many traditionally lawful purposes for a gun, not the least of which is the exercise of the right to self-defense.
That's why our right to own and use of is protected by the constitution.

As opposed to the people of every other nation that possesses significant levels of killings and homicides? What about the nation of Japan, with an exceedingly high rate of suicide? They are still killing themselves in record numbers, the only difference is the methodology.

 

If guns never existed and we knew nothing about the technology to make them this story would read: “11 year old boy slices grandmothers throat with butcher knife because he was told to clean room.”
