What? I'm addressing the OP. Not the President's "comments"...

 

well i prefer us troops have no combat engagement as much as possible. these are civil wars in both iraq and syria, and having fewer us troops there is the better option imo. i understand the need for us troops in guidance fires and general targeting, even some airstrikes, but i want the iraqis and syrians to do the fighting. this is their war, not ours. i have no problem with the military assistance, but as with obama, as well as trump, i prefer limits to us troop presence in those countries

 

Our preferences don't dictate the job once you're in the military. If you volunteer to fight, and the president tells you to go do your job, it's a no brainer.

At this point we have 2 options. First is to completely get the hell out of that area. Everything. Let Russia or someone else handle it. Second, is to support the fight against ISIS and increase our presence to really hammer them.

Why is it none of our elected leaders children are serving in the military in any mass capacity?

 

Then let's get out, and bomb the **** out of Saudi Arabia, until they submit and eradicate all traces of Wahhabism from their country.

Well it's an incredibly long paragraph agreeing that you are volunteering and you AGREE to obey any orders handed down from the officers appointed over you, and that you agree it can cost you your life.

Why do I care what our elected leaders kids are doing? They probably have an awesome life with a path for a great job.

Why the hell would I want someone to force some rich kids to have my 6? Are you crazy?

It is inhumane to subject someone to the abuse of low-IQ power-tripping drill sergeants, unless the person volunteers for military service.

There are a lot of good things (and genuinely fine people) associated with the U.S. MI!itary.

Unfortunately, all of that "good" exists in a culture of rape and sexual harassment of female subordinates.

As an actual veteran I can explain why they're "fighting like never before".

They've had their leash removed. Unlike the last 8 years they can probably now engage the enemy instead of having to wait until one of them gets shot before they can return fire.

Not likely to happen as the Saudis are best pals with Bush and others of the far right. Such alliances keep the war machine and its high profits going along and this is what endears to them to the USA powers that be.

I am too busy (as a member of the 1%) leading the good life and dating 21-year-old hotties.

That said, more power to anyone who can survive basic training and come out with their brain and dignity intact.

I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make it through.

And to add, they might really have something going if they could lose the mentality that leads to so much rape and sexual harassment in the military.
