You need God to tell you that things that harm other people are wrong? For real?

More importantly, if that was concrete (leaving aside that it's total BS for the moment), why do we have laws and statutes?

That says more about his followers than him. The man is a proven liar, and not a conspiracy “theorist” because he literally makes up the conspiracies out of whole cloth. If you listen to 10 seconds of what he has to say, then your emboldening him to lie even more. His followers are amazingly gullible and incredibly stupid. But that is the right wing in this country today, facts dont matter, and the product of that are the Alex Jones of the world

That obviously flew right over your head. What created morality? How do humans even know what is right and what is wrong?

People decide, as a society, what is right and what is wrong.
    That’s quite independent of Christianity.

Doesn’t even make any sense. What gives people the ability to even decide? Their brains, yes? How did they obtain this brain? What created that? Again, did humans spring from the ground like popcorn thousands of years ago?

Humans created morality. All it really takes is empathy.

I haven’t heard the popcorn theory. Is that from Darwin?

Then what’s your theory? What created this? You don’t have a plausible explanation.

There is no "right" or "wrong", just variances in how a society labels things.

Look at this message board. Some people are okay with anything their party does and hates everything on the other side. Some of us are in the middle and rate things in a more balanced way.

If there was a "universal standard" of right and wrong, there would be no allowances for bigotry or privilege (multi-tiered "judicial system"). In everything I've seen here, people are okay with black and brown people being killed by cops regardless of the circumstances or even any real "threat" but those same people and Trump say that the Capitol rioters didn't do anything "wrong" although they mob attacked police officers, threatened our lawmakers, stole government property and defaced government property.

Without white privilege, those criminals would be held to the same standard as non-white people are. People are upset saying they aren't being treated fairly. They are being treated better than any of the black and brown people that are arrested and they get more attention, more financial support and more lenient sentences than black and brown people. But, what people are clamoring for is for them to be completely free of the consequences of their crimes solely because they acted on behalf of a politician that they like. That's not justice.

As it stands now, our democracy is in jeopardy because of this and the person that fomented all this discord might get away with it. That's not even close to being reasonable and wouldn't be a consideration if that exact same event unfolded under a non-white POTUS of a different party. There is nobody on this planet that could convince me that any Democrat POTUS could not cooperate with an investigation, tamper with witnesses and do absolutely nothing during the commission of violent crimes for hours and even be under consideration for re-election.

And, the same privilege that allows for those variances to exist happen every day and in every way. Therefore, SOLELY by having that systemic privilege, it's quite clear those that don't experience systemic bigotry. If the system was fair, we could just as easily walk up to a kiosk, put in the statute numbers of crimes committed, any previous criminal history and a machine would spit out a verdict and sentence. We don't do that because our system is not based on fairness. It's based on people's feelings about who is worthy and who is not worthy while pretending that isn't happening.

Is that right? Is it wrong? Those words don't really exist. Only the person evaluating it decides where it fits along that spectrum.

You’re so out of touch it’s mesmerizing. A Democrat can never do any wrong. You will never see a Democrat POTUS ever impeached at this point again because that party is automatically seen as “the good guy” anytime and every time. Proof of this is how former Virginia Governor Northam was ousted as a former Klansmen and the Democrats said nothing. He was given a complete free pass and proceeded to govern as if it was “no big deal”. Had he been a Republican, every major city in Virginia would have burned. Good, Gosh… You are so brainwashed. CNN did it’s magic on you.

Democrats said nothing about Northam? You can't have been listening.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...s-democratic-peers-want-him-to-resign/581947/
“Northam’s political future is clearly in peril,” Chuck Todd, the moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press, said in his opening monologue. “Virtually the entire Democratic establishment, including Virginia’s two Democratic senators, has called for his resignation.... On State of the Union, former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, another 2020 Democratic hopeful, told Tapper, “Once that picture with the blackface and the Klansman came out, there is no way you can continue be the governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia..... Only one Democratic voice on the news programs offered a defense of Northam. Former Representative Jim Moran of Virginia told This Week’s George Stephanopoulos that Northam should not resign. “I hate to be on the other side of virtually all of my friends on this, but I do disagree with their judgment, because I think it is a rush to judgment,””

Why was he not impeached and thrown on the street immediately? There is a poster on this board (a Democrat) who claims he would “proudly” vote for him again. Again, a Democrat can never do wrong.

Can you acknowledge you were wrong to suggest Democrats said nothing against Northam?

Absolutely not. He received zero punishment or reprimand for it. Absolutely nothing. That guy should have been tossed off a boat.

Well, if you can't read the words in front of your face, there's not much point in continuing with this.

You want me to concede to you because a couple of Democrats wiggled their finger at him? You can’t be serious.

    (a) You said democrats said nothing. Even in this, you tacitly acknowledge you were wrong.
    (b) "Virtually the entire Democratic establishment", "I hate to be on the other side of virtually all of my friends on this". You really want to call that a couple of democrats?

This example is why your political party is a tyrannical problem. It refuses to hold those within it to the same standard as their political opposition. That’s scary stuff. As long as someone has a “D” next to their name, it’s no problem. Free pass they get.

My point is, it's easy to demonise the other side. Lots of people do it, on both sides. I'm pointing out that your demonisation doesn't match up to reality and that actually lots of democrats spoke out against Northam. You can be curious about why you misstated the truth of the situation, or you can ignore it and blithely continue as you were, confident in your certainties about the Big Bad Democrats. Up to you.

Nope. Not good enough. Again, wiggling a few fingers at the guy saying “bad boy” doesn’t do anything. I’d like to hear why this man was allowed to continue to rule. I want to hear the justification behind it.

No, I don't do that because I'd never get away with it just like everybody else doesn't even though they say it's their faith in god or being such a nice person but it's really the cop on the beat. (Actually murdering people has never had much appeal overall to me, but there are LOTS of girls I'd rape in a hot minute if I wasn't convinced they'd just beat the **** out of me and then see me in jail forever if I tried.)

You said the democrats said nothing against Northam. That is demonstrably false. If you want to argue dems didn't do enough to punish him, that's a different question.
