Most of those suicide victims would still be alive if guns were not so easily available

That’s a fabrication and you know it. You’re in a constant state of making things up, and have no understanding of life in the US.

Suicide Rates Are the Highest in the U.S. Compared to Wealthy Countries

Most suicide attempts are a call for help or attention. The easy availability of a gun means there is no going back. And before you mention Japan:
In the two main Japanese religions—Shintoism and Buddhism— there is no moral prohibition on self killing, and many literary works extol it as a way to atone for misdeeds.

The fact that life assurance policies in Japan do not exclude payouts in the event of suicide, as is often the case in Britain and western Europe, may also distort the picture somewhat.

Yeah, thoughts and prayers about restricting gun use to those sane enough to use them.

Fail to see the connection, or discern what your political orientation is.
Are you saying Americans see sour grapes because they can't achieve gun control like Australia, New Zealan, England and Japan (etc) have?

which means absolutely nothing. Playing the “what if” game accomplishes zero. What if there were no depressed people, is another “what if” game that’s meaningless since you can’t fix everyone.

Year 2020 was the darkest we have seen in a very long time, and hopefully we won't see anything as bad in a long time.

no, rather those who live in nanny state societies-where the government doesn't trust its own citizens to own common firearms, are often jealous of those of us who understand that the citizenry is the supreme sovereign and the government is subordinate to us

Is your government subordinate to the gun lobby? Is that why 117,000 Americans were shot last year?

If by 'gun lobby' you mean the 80 million recorded gun owners, plus who knows how many unrecorded, plus however many who may want to be gun onwers, all of whom value their right to bear arms and most of whom wont be respecting any law made to the contrary, then yes, our govt is subordinant to 'the gun lobby.'

If you're trying to assert that theres just afew rich people manipulating our laws to prevent the govt from being able to disarm us all, well that would be flat out :roflol:

The big money all goes to gun control, not gun rights. The NRA, for example, has been dead in the water for years. It was only ever a side effect of our gun culture, not the originator of it.

Not quite, I have a firearm on me while at home. Sitting on the couch or in the kitchen, I'm armed. I think everyone does this, if not they ought to.

A large number of those shootings were the result of women protecting themselves and their families from harm.

Where do these stats come from? You saying WOMEN are behind a lot of these shootings? Never heard that. Not that it changes anything.

So you are armed in your kitchen and lounge. To 99.99% of us Aussies that is something seriously weird.
    This is Jim Jeffries
    (1) Jim Jefferies -- Gun Control (Part 1) from BARE -- Netflix Special - YouTube

This by the way is my all time favorite comedy sketch. It so seriously sums up Australia.

For a year or more the fastest growing demographic of new gun ownership was women, specifically black women.

Even though you're an Australian I find it difficult to believe that you have trouble imagining a woman successfully defending herself with a firearm.

As the comedy asks, 'What kind of society do you have where you have to walk around carrying a gun?'
80% of American firearm deaths at home are self inflicted - so much for 'security'.

So too are kids shooting someone, or firearm accidents etc..
The rest of the world looks on in amazement at a society where there are 400,000,000 guns. Since I was born about a million people would have died of gunshot - there's a war going on in America.

So, this is worse than endless riots, 10.3% unemployment, close-downs, people dying left and right, massive government intervention and insane money injections etc. Heck, the issues we have today, like inflation, is still largely because of 2020.

Whatever gets you through the night. I have firearms, but don't carry them around in the house, because I don't see any reason for it and nor do I know anyone else who does.

Does the holster keep it dry in the shower?
