The guy could have as easily drove his car onto the playground when the kids were out and ran over 20 of them. We need to know what makes these kids go nuts like this, not what weapon they use.

Mak, in our society--because of the ghetto culture and pockets of really bad culture we have here---its not unusual for a burgler to just kill for the hell of it. To say that lawful people should give up their guns is to advocate a certain suicide.

Perhaps in your country it is different--I don't think you have the issues we have. But I do believe that ignorance and emotional reaction will not be the solution.

The solution is to figure out the depravity in our society and fix it without the obfuscationof political correctness.

All I said was they first banded guns and now they have done the same thing with knives. If a person wants to bad enough, he will find a weapon to use, even if it's his own car. As a society where it relates to guns and violence, we have become crazy-asses. I have personally kept warning people I know, and some within this forum, that the promiscuous proliferation of firearms and their use within this society WOULD add to increased numbers of mass murders.

Now, to say that the cause of gun violence is ALL about the guns, isn't correct; but the wild proliferation of the guns is both a symptom AND enabler of the social ills which AFFLICT us as a society.

Mental illness, is one of the main things we should be looking at. This society needs UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE as sure as I'm sitting here. People have been tormented and run ragged by our violent, warlike, capitalistic, racist, lustful and homophobic society. We are MENTALLY struggling. Many more people are MENTALLY ILL than we will typically talk about or admit.

America has the potential for greatness or great evil. And it seems these days, that some of those who are somewhat healthy and well-off... are content to let America self-destruct; not realizing that those they are watching self-destruct... WILL take them down WITH them.

All too often we see one group of Americans POINTING at another, which in reality... fingers can/should be pointed in every darned direction. A lot of people have pointed at Blacks and other minorities as being THE problem, when in reality the nuanced issues within the African American community are merely symptoms of issues ALSO within the White American society as a whole. Of yes, we are (at least) the "product" of ONE ANOTHER; it is not as some try to paint it... we're clearly ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. 9/11 TRIED to tell us that... but we very soon lost that clue and went back to our US vs. THEM mentality (all the while trying to stay AFLOAT) in the same troubled vessel.

Please Americans!!! WAKE THE F___ UP!!! Let's not just talk about making America better... let's just go ahead and do it!! No more of this fracking discord and obstruction. That is, unless you want to see MORE people (including your children) shot dead at playgrounds, schools, malls, churches, hospitals... (you name the place).

Not only did I disagree with everything you just said, but to take yours and the OPs advice is exactly the wrong way to go about solving or reducing crime in our nation. Leftist policies have always hurt our society and to amend our 2nd Amendment to your leftist/socialist heart's content would not only weaken America, but it would create more problems. My suggestion to you is if you're so concerned about our mental patients, that you would be wise to read Michael Savage's book "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder", so that you could first see who it is in our society who are mentally ill, and the program leftists need to take to cure those personal ills.

the majority of these participating in this thread are from other countries that believe in being subjects instead of free men. Our Consititution has been a thorn in many dictators and petty tyrants for many a long time. Because that was how they are raised, they do not know any better.
Similar to the event of freeing the slaves in America. Initially, they could not understand what freedom and liberty was. Many stayed on the ol' plantation because that was all they knew.

 

Guns prevent and have prevented a potential invasion from a foreign country, keep our government in check to a degree, and allow people to defend themselves. It's a Constitutional right to bear arms, and they do more good than they do harm.
