...you are positioning your self with a political agenda. So why not everyone else?

Americans should be having a sober conversation about guns.. not trashing each other.

Yes and don't forget the tyranny of the criminals who have access to the millions and millions of unregistered firearms.

There is no conversation to be had. This is a tragedy, but no gun bans should be imposed.

And Americans should ban together to ensure our govenment does not become a totalitarian demense. To believe otherwise is an unsafe assumption

Yep. Ban guns and the criminals will still get them through illegal means.

Why? Not all Americans obviously are having issues with guns when we have 270 million of them and less than 10,000 deaths a year. Why must we have a "sober conversation" at this point in time? When a plane goes down do we have a sober conversation about airline regulations? Do we have a sober conversation about vaccines because less than a percent of all children have vaccine related deaths each year?

Why? The guns didn't somehow jump in a car and go to the school and shoot those poor kids. The 'conversation' SHOULD be how a kid becomes so morally bankrupt that he kills his own mother, STEALS her guns and kills innocent young children.

No, we should be having a sober conversation about how to defend against these types of attacks. There is no firearm legislation that you can come up with that will solve this problem. Armed security at schools seems like a no-brainer to me, but the gun grabbers don't even want to discuss that. They just want to use this incident to further their agenda.

    We should ban the penis.

Its only uses are to urinate and procreate. But too often it is used against the will of another. They should be banned.

It's not about gun control, it's about a pathetic and woefully immature American culture that sees guns as problem solving tools.

This rampant gun-phobia that always breaks out when something like this happens is truly sad. It's nothing more than another knee-jerk prejudice held by people who do not understand what they are afraid of. And to be fair, it's not even entirely their fault. If they're not around guns, how are they really going to learn anything about them? Their only consistent exposure is through a media that only reports the comparatively few and far-between tragedies and virtually never reports anything on the countless incidents of responsible gun ownership/usage that happen literally every single day. Because those are not sensational enough stories. They're too boring. They wouldn't trigger the kind of outrage that we're seeing here when something like this gets reported. If your only exposure to black people was seeing them on the news everyday killing people, there's a good possibility that you might eventually become a racist because you have nothing else to balance out what you see. And so you get a very skewed perception of what the world actually looks like. It's the exact same thing here. You're not getting the full picture. You're only getting the part that's designed to make you react a certain way.

Make no mistake, anti-gun folks. You're being manipulated. Your fears are being preyed on, and you're reacting exactly like they want you to react. Because it means you're emotional, you're engaged, and you'll keep tuning in to find out what happens next. Not only that, but it guarantees that you'll give them the same kind of ratings the next time something like this happens.

Stop buying into it. It's chicken little syndrome. Vote with your remote and turn your tv off.

LOL! Thank you. Actually, I did something pretty close. I took a rather enlightening sabbatical that taught me a lot of things, and I'd like to believe I've come back wiser than I left. :)

Nearly 1 million Americans attempt suicide each year, but only about 35,000 succeed. It's a shame that more of these attempts are not successful. Guns would probably help them in their endeavors. If one does not wish to live, then they should be given access to an easy exit.

Save the earth by controlling the population, promote gun suicide.

Appeal to emotion/connection fail. That has nothing to do with our liberty/freedom (including yours).

Neither myself, nor my weapons, have killed anyone.

TBH, why does the government have an obligation to protect people from themselves (in the sole self sense)? In the case of suicide, the only answer I can come up with is that somebody else would have to clean up the mess. but it's the same argument used for entitlement programs, for pro-life, for the war on drugs.

Yes, we should take measures to prevent these kinds of crimes in our areas. I'm going to take two measures myself.

When will you people learn? The fact that gun crime is low in Japan and they have gun control are single issues. Gun crime is also low in Switzerland, and they have one of the highest guns/household rates in the world, same for Israel. 'Gun culture' isn't a problem, especially when an estimated 1% of homicides in the United States are committed with legally owned and possessed firearms. If you can't do the math, that means that 99% of homicides in the United States are committed with illegally procured guns. What you want to do won't solve jack f***ing (*)(*)(*)(*).

This logic they support, that one bad guy misuses a Constitutional right, so we need to take it away from all law-abiding citizens. Every time that Britney Spears talks is a misuse of a Constitutional right, should we all be stripped of our first amendment rights? The logic is absent.

They aren't big huge thinkers, these guys. Everything is black and white. They don't look at things like culture. I mean, Japan has a high suicide rate proportionately, whereas we don't. Should their government start putting everyone in Zoloft? England has a high rate of knife deaths. Is their response to ban cutlery?

This was a kid from a broken family that everyone said was detached from emotions. Now, instead of--God forbid--looking at kids whose parents either don't have the time or neglect to spend the time with them that they deserve we look at guns. Has to be guns because if its not guns then we have a HUGE problem.
