You're a Russian so whenever you needed land, you went Eastwards. When others tried to move East, you stopped them, so they had to go West.

Anyway US was established by persecuted Christians who were given land in the colonies by the king. The ones that survived the voyage were lucky. The Germans began coming en masse because of political reasons, and the rest of the Europeans came to escape famine and poverty - so don't knock them. They were very brave people. It was not easy to get up and leave your homeland, and most did it with the intent of going back someday.

    Same for Alaska.
Check out "dry homes" in Buying Alaska on TV.

When one can't go outside for whatever reason, they use a
    "honey bucket" .

Hitler didn't trust Stalin to keep his word.

And the germans also wanted to get their hands on the rich oil supplies, which they needed for the war effort.

After agreeing to partition Poland among themselves, it is probable that Hitler and Stalin could have found a mutually-agreeable way to arrange for Germany to obtain oil and fuel supplies -- especially given that Germany was fighting England, the foremost enemy of Communism, not the Soviet Union.

To be sure, there was a good deal of mistrust and uneasiness between Germany and the Soviet Union. After all, Germany had fought against Czarist-Russia and defeated it only a little over 20 years before the Non-Aggression Pact was signed in 1939. The Germans had no reason to particularly 'like' Russia, and vice-versa. But, WISE leaders of countries do strike deals with other countries that are mutually-beneficial, and Germany wanted those parts of Poland that had been stolen from it after World War I back within the borders of the Third Reich. Stalin was only too happy to get the rest of Poland.

This article in the CIA Library is well worth reading -- especially the part about Hitler's secret letters to Stalin: https://www.cia.gov/library/center-...es/studies/vol50no1/9_BK_What_Stalin_Knew.htm

No, I'm convinced that Stalin "never saw it coming", and actually took some convincing that Hitler had actually betrayed him.

You'll be surprised, but a Russian restroom usually has a bath. As I know your bathroom has a shower only. It seems you don't like to take a bath :)
Running water? No. Running vodka only. Every building in Russia is connected to a pipe with vodka. Don't you know that?

Lady, when Russians wanted new land they joined it. And native population grew. Usually the population asked a Russian tsar to take them in Russia. For example Georgia was adopted as a result of Treaty of Georgievsk.
When Americans wanted new land they destroyed native population. Nobody knows how many millions American Indians was killed.
    Mormons? :) :) :)
It's an American legend only. Most of them were criminals (killers, banditos, etc). They were persons that could not live in the usual society. The same happened in Australia. But Australia never hide this fact.

And Churchill did too ... and most important: His own secret service and General staff did so too due to own won knowledge. So what now? Ignoring things is not new for people!

Excellent point. Have heard it before, but it is so true. If we are so frigging evil why do billions of people want to come here.

The motives of Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill were shifting and devious. They both represented interests that wanted the Soviet Union and Communism to fail, and they viewed the Nazis as a force that would keep Communism from spreading. They were always "stirring the pot" in Europe, trying to turn foreign factions against each other. Stalin of course knew that the Capitalist West hated Communism, and hated the Russian Revolution... what reason did he have to trust Britain or the U. S. or any of their 'warnings'?

After Britain decided to wage war against Germany, it soon realized that it was in WAY over its head and began begging the U. S. to get more and more involved. Frankie and Winnie finally figured out a way to get America in the war -- by way of Japan! History records the FACT that by early Summer of 1941, the U. S. completely cut off all oil supplies to Japan (with Britain in full agreement to doing this). Both Britain and the U. S. were completely AT PEACE WITH JAPAN, but this embargo meant war, yes, Frankie and Winnie knew exactly what they were doing! Sure enough, to avoid being strangled to death, Japan retaliated at Pearl Harbor less than six months later.

Germany didn't defeat Tsarist Russia. It was Lenin who signed the peace treaty, and it upset the Tsar that he would dishonor Russia in that way.

The incomes are higher here, but that doesn't mean everyone wants to come here - only the poor and desperate. As for being evil, well if you were being bombed and maimed to gratify Washington's geopolitical agenda, what would you call it?

Technically, you are correct. The Russian Revolution (which effectively ended Russia's real participation in World War I) began on March 8, 1917. The Czar abdicated a week later. Russia finally officially surrendered to the Germany/Austria-Hungary/Ottoman Empire alliance with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk on March 8, 1918. Czar Nicholas II's feelings of being 'upset' ended about four months later with his execution.

The American natives died from the measles, The colonists noticed that only those who were part European were able to fight the disease. Anyway they are still around. I'm positive the sadist who took my blood in the hospital was a Seminole Indian. Thank God he didn't scalp me.

Every British colony in the new world had its own established Church, granted to them by the King of England. When the Constitution was written, they had to incorporate into it the separation of Church and State to insure that the Federal government would not establish its own Church, and start hindering people from worshiping as they please. The only colony made up of prisoners in North America was Georgia.

Until 40 years ago, we were known for our Puritanism. Our universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, etc. were all schools of Divinity. - and most of our Founding Fathers were graduates of those schools. Here are some of the writings by the signers of the Declaration of Independence:

    John Adams

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.

The Christian religion is, above all the religions that ever prevailed or existed in ancient or modern times, the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity.
    John Quincy Adams

In the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior. The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity.
    Samuel Adams

I conceive we cannot better express ourselves than by humbly supplicating the Supreme Ruler of the world . . . that the confusions that are and have been among the nations may be overruled by the promoting and speedily bringing in the holy and happy period when the kingdoms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may be everywhere established, and the people willingly bow to the scepter of Him who is the Prince of Peace.
    Gunning Bedford

To the triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost – be ascribed all honor and dominion, forevermore – Amen.
    Elias Boudinot

Let us enter on this important business under the idea that we are Christians on whom the eyes of the world are now turned… Let us earnestly call and beseech Him, for Christ’s sake, to preside in our councils. . . . We can only depend on the all powerful influence of the Spirit of God, Whose Divine aid and assistance it becomes us as a Christian people most devoutly to implore. Therefore I move that some minister of the Gospel be requested to attend this Congress every morning . . . in order to open the meeting with prayer.
    Benjamin Franklin

As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and His religion as He left them to us, the best the world ever saw or is likely to see.
    Elbridge Gerry

With one heart and voice we may prostrate ourselves at the throne of heavenly grace and present to our Great Benefactor sincere and unfeigned thanks for His infinite goodness and mercy towards us from our birth to the present moment for having above all things illuminated us by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, presenting to our view the happy prospect of a blessed immortality.

And it goes on and on and on. They certainly do not sound like criminals to me.

Whatever we were known for, only New Englanders have ever really been Puritanical. They still are.

Yes, that is kind of common knowledge.
Not sure, if that was the reason. Anyway, it turned out to be beneficial in uniting the Germans behind one leader... a leader, who could in some respects be compared to today's Donald Trump, who also strives to look out for #One, his country.
That is a bunch of crap. All Germany wanted was, to get back some of the confiscated lands taken away after the First WW. They did not even demand back the land given to the Poles, all Hitler asked for was a narrow corridor to the province of East Prussia, and rights to the German harbor city of Danzig, which was well over 90% populated by ethnic Germans.
Well, if that is true, then Stalin must have planned to go to war long before 1941. No wonder Hitler didn't trust him and sent some spy planes over to check what he was doing. Sure enough, they discovered that he was amassing war equipment at the other side of the border. THAT's when Hitler got serious to beat him to it!

Thank you for your extensive and earnest reply. May I for tonight just briefly answer with an article I find very fair and as correct as I know about these things? It is getting late, but I will try to respond in more detail to your musings tomorrow.
Here now is Pat Buchanan's opinion on the war:

    Did Hitler Want War?
    by Patrick J. Buchanan

On Sept. 1, 1939, 70 years ago, the German Army crossed the Polish frontier. On Sept. 3, Britain declared war.

Six years later, 50 million Christians and Jews had perished. Britain was broken and bankrupt, Germany a smoldering ruin. Europe had served as the site of the most murderous combat known to man, and civilians had suffered worse horrors than the soldiers.

By May 1945, Red Army hordes occupied all the great capitals of Central Europe: Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Berlin. A hundred million Christians were under the heel of the most barbarous tyranny in history: the Bolshevik regime of the greatest terrorist of them all, Joseph Stalin.

What cause could justify such sacrifices?

The German-Polish war had come out of a quarrel over a town the size of Ocean City, Md., in summer. Danzig, 95 percent German, had been severed from Germany at Versailles in violation of Woodrow Wilson’s principle of self-determination. Even British leaders thought Danzig should be returned.

Why did Warsaw not negotiate with Berlin, which was hinting at an offer of compensatory territory in Slovakia? Because the Poles had a war guarantee from Britain that, should Germany attack, Britain and her empire would come to Poland’s rescue.

But why would Britain hand an unsolicited war guarantee to a junta of Polish colonels, giving them the power to drag Britain into a second war with the most powerful nation in Europe?

Was Danzig worth a war? Unlike the 7 million Hong Kongese whom the British surrendered to Beijing, who didn’t want to go, the Danzigers were clamoring to return to Germany.

Comes the response: The war guarantee was not about Danzig, or even about Poland. It was about the moral and strategic imperative “to stop Hitler” after he showed, by tearing up the Munich pact and Czechoslovakia with it, that he was out to conquer the world. And this Nazi beast could not be allowed to do that.

If true, a fair point. Americans, after all, were prepared to use atom bombs to keep the Red Army from the Channel. But where is the evidence that Adolf Hitler, whose victims as of March 1939 were a fraction of Gen. Pinochet’s, or Fidel Castro’s, was out to conquer the world?

After Munich in 1938, Czechoslovakia did indeed crumble and come apart. Yet consider what became of its parts.

The Sudeten Germans were returned to German rule, as they wished. Poland had annexed the tiny disputed region of Teschen, where thousands of Poles lived. Hungary’s ancestral lands in the south of Slovakia had been returned to her. The Slovaks had their full independence guaranteed by Germany. As for the Czechs, they came to Berlin for the same deal as the Slovaks, but Hitler insisted they accept a protectorate.

Now one may despise what was done, but how did this partition of Czechoslovakia manifest a Hitlerian drive for world conquest?

Comes the reply: If Britain had not given the war guarantee and gone to war, after Czechoslovakia would have come Poland’s turn, then Russia’s, then France’s, then Britain’s, then the United States.

We would all be speaking German now.

But if Hitler was out to conquer the world — Britain, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, South America, India, Asia, Australia — why did he spend three years building that hugely expensive Siegfried Line to protect Germany from France? Why did he start the war with no surface fleet, no troop transports and only 29 oceangoing submarines? How do you conquer the world with a navy that can’t get out of the Baltic Sea?

If Hitler wanted the world, why did he not build strategic bombers, instead of two-engine Dorniers and Heinkels that could not even reach Britain from Germany?

Why did he let the British army go at Dunkirk?

Why did he offer the British peace, twice, after Poland fell, and again after France fell?

Why, when Paris fell, did Hitler not demand the French fleet, as the Allies demanded and got the Kaiser’s fleet? Why did he not demand bases in French-controlled Syria to attack Suez? Why did he beg Benito Mussolini not to attack Greece?

Because Hitler wanted to end the war in 1940, almost two years before the trains began to roll to the camps.

Hitler had never wanted war with Poland, but an alliance with Poland such as he had with Francisco Franco’s Spain, Mussolini’s Italy, Miklos Horthy’s Hungary and Father Jozef Tiso’s Slovakia.

Indeed, why would he want war when, by 1939, he was surrounded by allied, friendly or neutral neighbors, save France. And he had written off Alsace, because reconquering Alsace meant war with France, and that meant war with Britain, whose empire he admired and whom he had always sought as an ally.

As of March 1939, Hitler did not even have a border with Russia. How then could he invade Russia?

Winston Churchill was right when he called it “The Unnecessary War” — the war that may yet prove the mortal blow to our civilization.

I don't know about that last part. I think the current generation of Germans are smart enough to solve the problem without need for brutishness. They will probably just turn off the flow of refugees and focus on assimilating the ones who they already allowed into the country. Those who don't assimilate will simply be deported after a time. And because Germany is such a great society with a great culture, most of the immigrants will want to assimilate into it. Despite a lot of the prejudice Muslim refugees face, most of them are just ordinary people who want peace and quiet. Unfortunately, a radicalized minority within the Muslim community gives them a bad name.

The Chinese and Russian leadership are very pragmatic statesmen. They make US leadership look juvenile by comparison. And it would appear that Germans are becoming increasingly aware of this.
