They were raised by the boomers, possibly the most spoiled generation in history, so there is something in what you say. Many of our grandfathers went directly from being teenagers to being men, missing the transition of the late teens and early twenties where we must learn the responsibility of becoming an adult.

However as the government became more involved in the raising of children, and seemingly committed to the breakup of families, there is plenty of blame to go around. This column asks the question of "What's next".

Is there a mini, but peaceful, revolution in the election of Donald Trump or is it too late to change direction? http://www.steynonline.com/6085/america-takes-early-retirement

I think it's obvious that they're trying to (*)(*)(*)(*) off the "opposition".

    " Flag Disposal
    1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner.

    2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag.

    3. Place the flag on the fire.

    4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection.

I never thought I'd live to see the day that an American referred to free speech as a problem. Europeans maybe, but not Americans.

I am a boomer. The backend of them but one none the less.
Yes, we got to enjoy teens and early adulthood. But I am from a poor family. I've been working since before a teen earning my spending money and even money to buy things like a bike, hunting rifle, etc.
But I still got to enjoy sports, mostly high school, where my parents group had to skip those activities to go to work.
I see my generation having it better, but that is not worse.
My kids, millenials, do work to provide. Not the millenials we see on TV. But I suspect, many millenials we see on TV may be a product of the 60s and 70s generation where protests were wide spread. IE Viet Nam etc.

As for working less, there is no doubt. Less jobs available. Not to mention, teens can't get jobs I used to get. Govt regulations a big reason.

Is it bad, still TBD. Most older folks think it's bad. But every older generation has always complained about the younger generation for having it too easy.

My statement that it is not for the likes of Dairy Air to define what the flag means is not empty, and it's not rhetoric.

Obviously, to some posters here the flag is a piece of cloth. To some of you it means nothing. You are justifying the burning of it because to YOU it means nothing. You want to take your small-minded view and project it on the universe.

You are unable to see into the hearts of others, and you do not get to project your own feeble definitions on everyone else.

This has convinced me that upcoming protests need to burn effigies of Trump. Make the effigies big and fat by filling them up with solid waste from an outhouse and light 'em up. While it burns protesters can sit around and say things like "amazing" "fantastic" :"tremendous" and "believe me"

Oh boo hoo. Are only people that agree with you not small-minded? Are only people that agree with you allowed to express their opinions? Oh boo hoo. Don't want anyone telling you what you don't want to hear, oh no, boo hoo cry away, cry away cry away.

Have not conservatives always seen the free speech of others as a problem?

How right wing of you to want to punish those who you don't agree with. That just makes you a cry baby.

I wonder what would happen if a group of Christians got together in San Francisco or Portland and started burning rainbow flags to protest .

Then you would be supporting EXACTLY the opposite of what the flag is supposed to represent. What matters is the Constitution. The flag is just a symbol; and a symbol for the right to dissent most of all. It could be said that a flag's greatest glory is to be burned in dissent. This is when it means the most. It is precisely the protection of our rights that the flag symbolizes.

I would worry far more about the core of our freedom - the Constitution. That is what protects us and the reason soldiers die. They take an oath to defend the Constitution with their life, not the flag or the President or apple pie.

Loyalty to the flag is a magicians trick - a misdirection, a con. It allows tyrants to make appeals to blind patriotism rather than the core principles that really matter. And we see it here. You are claiming a piece of cloth is more important than the first amendment.

You are confusing loyalties. While most American think that we are all Americans, a rather large portion of conservatives think that they have the monopoly on what is American. In a conservative's America, un-conservative speech is un-American and doing whatever harm is done to whoever makes such un-conservative speech seems to be justified.

That is how one makes an effigy of Trump realistic - fill it full of solid waste from an outhouse.

By the way, not to pop your deluded bubble but Trump was sued in 1973 by the Justice Department for his and his father's racist actions against blacks.

I understand that freedom of speech means nothing to you. You are justifying trying to deny other people their basic human rights because to YOU they mean nothing. You want to take your simple-Simon thought processes and vomit them all over your countrymen.

    See how that works?

The right has an ultimate PURPOSE, just like the right to bear arms. The protection of other unalienable rights.

The people need to know about the destruction of unalienable rights in order to protect them. Government needs to be responsive to actual information about the destruction of them or it is abetting the destruction. When gov is not responsive people need to focus on government with alteration or abolishment.

The safest policy is that when a group of the people agree that unalienable rights are being destroyed, government has the duty to see it is shared with ALL of the people.

It's freedom to burn a flag so go ahead and do it, if you choose. It just demonstrates that the simpletons carrying out the burning are acting out their emotions and are unable to express their thoughts in a more articulate way. They're generally recognized as fools at the lowest end of public discourse. They'll guarantee another Trump victory.

I remember people saying the same thing about people protesting the Vietnam war.

The protesters won. With Trump, we will have to see if he was lying about almost everything or if he intends to do what he said: Use nukes, start wars, torture people, deny free speech... It he goes down that road, watch the flags burn! And watch his ass get tossed out with the rest of the garbage.

If he doesn't go down that road, he will outrage his own base.

That's the amusing thing about the rise of Trump. If he doesn't deliver even a sliver of the outrageous promises he repeatedly promised his minions with...they themselves will fire his sorry ass. Yes, "politicians" promise everything, and rarely deliver, but arguably Trump's biggest appeal to his zombie like followers was that he was NOT politician, and that he was going to "drain the swamp" in the process. His rhetoric was purely populist, and I suspect if he fails to come through, those same voters who voted for him will be running back to establishment GOP politicians like Romney and Ryan to save them from Trump's disaster. Should definitely be an interesting four years for sure.
