They had no legal right but in the interest of preserving neighborhood relations for the short time we would be there I pleasantly acquiesced and took the old beater out to our rural property.

I have no problem with stopping the climbing, but I still find it sad. I guess that's called conflicted. I just can't imagine that climb killing people via heart attack, but then again, I was not even a teenager... I'm pretty sure I could make it today, but no guarantees in life.

Melbourne will be the center of sport in early December with the Presidents Cup. That doesn't get the love the Ryder Cup gets here, but it's still usually a top event. Since the US is getting killed in the past 20 years of Ryder Cup, it's good to see we can still win international golf. The only time the US lost this event was in 1998 at Royal Melbourne. We'll be the strong favorites again I assume.

I went to the 2000 Presidents Cup, since the location is only about 15 miles from my home.... Shigeki Maruyama hit me with a tee ball (off the bounce... I didn't get any signed swag)...

I think upwards of 25 people have died on the rock since climbing commenced. A couple of weeks back a right wing politician got a TV crew to follow her up the rock for a 'defying the impending ban' photo op. She got part way up, decided it was too dangerous & apparently declared it probably should be closed on safety grounds. :)

I'm afraid golf isn't my sport, but we do have some great courses here in the 'sand belt'. I hope you enjoy the tournament.

My preferred sports are cricket and Aussie rules, both of which have a storied history in this city.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is basically Australia's sporting heart. There has been a cricket ground there for 180 years. It was the location of the very first Australian Rules game and the first official cricket Test match, between Australia & England. That took place almost 25 years before Australia became a nation, so we had a cricket team before we had a country :D (I am currently watching Australia playing England in England - we are a good chance to win). Not many places can claim to be the birthplace of two sports.

The MCG is a great place to watch sport. During football season I go regularly. The crowds are big - tonight it was 94,000 (not my teams playing, so I stayed home). The Aussie Rules competition is in the top 10 in the world for average attendances, remarkable given that 9 of its 18 teams are based in Melbourne and one just outside. In the 1930s over 300,000 people attended a cricket Test there (they go for 5 days, but still remarkable). It has also hosted an Olympic games and during WW2 US soldiers camped & trained there.

We also host one of the tennis majors and a bunch of other cool stuff. Best place in the world for sport. :)

Sorry I miss read the "complied". As I said earlier my BBQ is situated in my that the smoke disapates before it crosses over to a neighbors yard. Were it close to the one side where on the other side of the fence is my neighbors pool and it constantly smoked them and their quest out I would move it. Maybe its just a Southern thing to be polite to your neighbor.

I don't know much about vegans. They are more than just vegetarians form what I can tell. It is actually an ideology they practice and almost cult like. They are extremists and fanatical about their beliefs. That in itself is should be a red flag.

These are the same angry, mean people that refuse to serve cops, throw blood on women who wear fur coats and probably have severe protein deficiencies. The articles I have found all seem to be in defense of their position, not about how mean and silly they appear to most others that they don't agree with.

    My viewpoint about their cult:

Uhhh... their abusive tactics not well received by Argentina Cowboys:

VIDEO: Argentinian Cowboys Use Bullwhips On Vegan Activists At Rodeo.

“Gauchos do not take kindly to having their rodeo festivities broken up by screaming and sign-waving, a group of vegan protesters in Argentina learned last week. . . . Audience members also appeared to join in on the fracas, throwing protesters out of the event area by the collars and kicking them. When the last remaining vegans were herded out of the arena the crowd erupted into cheers as music blared in the background.”

I know a couple of vegans and the ones I know are nice folks. I think they're getting a bad rap from some of these clowns. But some of these clowns are absolutely insufferable. I personally don't care if someone chooses to be vegan but I'll means do what you feel is right I'm all about freedom here. But some of them can really be jerks.

yeah I don't know why people can't just believe what they believe that trying to ram it down other people's throats.

I'm not really surprised that this reaction I've known some people that have felt this way about vegan protest. Last time I saw a vegan protesters outside of a Kentucky fried Chicken. I just went in and bought some chicken. I wasn't planning on going there that day I just did.

I don't think there's anything better to do to protester then show them that their protests don't work. I told them I came in there because of them. If I hadn't seen the spectacle chickens would have lived.

My wife is a vegan. I'm a carnivore. The biggest difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that vegetarians do not eat meat, but a vegan does not eat meat or any product that comes from an animal (i.e. dairy, eggs, etc.).

My wife is also a herbologist and a nutritionist. If you have aches and pains or some medical condition, she can tell you what plant-based item you should be eating to "heal" your condition or things you should not be putting in your body. For instance, she told me years ago to stop using mouthwash (her loss) in order to decrease the chance of diabetes. This week I read an article that state that mouthwash kills enzymes in the mouth that helps the body produce insulin.

There is an advantage being married to a vegan. I do not need to mow the yard very often. In fact, the wife wants me to let the dandelions grow she can pick them for her meals. I mean dandelions.....go figure.

There is also a disadvantage. If I use a container to store a meat product, the sharpie comes out and the container is labeled "meat"....never to be used for vegie material ever again. My Tupperware budget is significant.

Looking forward to the day the western world doesn't have to support Australia (aka England's rejects).

They are with us in every war, and unlike some of our allies, they can actually fight!
