Ben Carson just referred to slaves as 'immigrants'

Ben isn't the most eloquent speaker, but he isn't wrong. It's because of slavery that so many black people have the opportunity to achieve the American dream today. If that is unacceptable I suggest you migrate to Africa and give the bush a try. See how that goes. My guess is you'll be back in short order.

Think of the benefit to Africa if American Blacks took what they know about modern society over there.

They could rule as they please, police as they please, live as they please.

One tends to think of immigrants as people voluntarily travelling in search of a better life, slaves didn't travel voluntarily. Though their descendants indubitably secured a better life once emancipated, their predecessors certainly didn't. Slaves are like immigrants only in that both are transplanted populations.

 

Yet they stayed from another country. The definition of immigration. I fear you are hung up on choice yet many Europeans that came here had no choice either. Then it was called indentured slavery. Yet we are all descendants of immigrants unless your descendants were indigenous.

 

You really should get over it man, blacks hardly have a monopoly on slavery!

 

What part of "they came here on the bottom of slave boats" do you not understand? Show me where he said they came here "because they had a dream"? Saying that once here that they had dreams for their children is not idiotic. He never said being a slave was a good thing to begin with. Quit making **** up. I venture to say that during Dr. Carson's lifetime that when politicians used the phrase "a nation of immigrants", slaves where included, so don't damn him for continuing to do the same.

 

They are hung up on a word and ignoring the fact that he reminded us they were slaves directly after saying it.

How do the other counties that practiced and still practice slavery deal with this?

 

So, the newest outrage from the faux liberals. Yes, he was serious, in that those African immigrated, involuntarily, after an opposing African tribe had captured them and sold them to slave traders. For probably shiny objects.

It was a very bad way to have to come to America, but the blacks of today are here, instead of some hell hole in Africa. I would be thankful if I were a black person, that knew anything about Africa For long ago, Africans sold their fellow Africans to slave traders. You still see slaves being sold in Africa.

So, if a GOPher said something of this nature, your tribe would be screaming racism. Because the good doctor has darker skin. Right? Frankly I see absolutely nothing to be angry about. This is a perpetual angry tribe, no? I am so happy pres trump thinks much higher of the good doctor than the faux liberals do. Just like pres trump thinks much better of working americans than the faux liberals do. We live in an upside down reality these days. The party that once defended and represented working people now no longer does that. They place illegal aliens above their own working citizens They gleefully give living wage jobs here, to communists and others in order to max out the profits of the elites. They love a hollowed out economy, which polluted so much less than china does, which looks like a factory city from the early industrial age, where your clothes and houses smelled like coal and wood smoke.

All we have now as liberals spend their time straining out gnats so they can be outraged again today over the trump admin, its people, and they have no problem with fabricating the outrage if need be. It seems that these faux liberals, were raised up expecting a prize, an award for not winning, and they were never given their prizes for losing an election that MSM and the dems, just knew that a billionaire, plus reality tv star, could never win, well, they have been enraged ever since. Which causes them to strain gnats and find the daily outrage. Many of us think this is the result of bad parenting, and a sense of entitlement and never having to really work hard to survive. The proverbial spoiled brat who cannot grow up.

 

Well, they did immigrate. IMO it's better than constantly referring to people as "slaves", which is dehumanizing, as it was a dehumanizing practice.

 

Yeah. But you can easily find out - and I would wager you already HAVE at some point in your life - read up on what life is like over there. The social, political, and various other facts of the area. So I ask again: Would you rather have been born here - or there?
