It is weird that conservatives, and the uneducated regularly say such things, that the educated and the non-conservative is brainwashed and their thoughts are uniform, and all that, but the reality on the ground shows something quite different.

Whereas there are a great many issues in which liberals/Democrats/progressives/the Left mostly agree, like the need for a universal healthcare system. Yet one never sees the lockstep obedience to false and misleading information on the left that is abundant on the right.

That is what is so clear, how often the right is lockstep on things that are factually incorrect. Like the time y’all were convinced that Jim Acosta had hit an aide, over a microphone, at one of Trump’s unhinged news conference. The right was calling for his head, until it was proven that all of conservative land had been led astray by an altered video and a false narrative.

The mischaracterization of the impeachment testimony and evidence, by the right has likewise proceeded in a lockstep manner.

But then I have noticed this my whole life as conservatives also tend to mischaracterize liberals, in ways that are ignorant in a lock step fashion.

The best schools tend to have the best students. Places like Harvard and MIT don’t have better teachers, or a better curriculum than state public universities. They are just more selective in who they allow in.

Look around the country, at every school district where academic performance is low, one finds a neighborhood full of undereducated adults with limited opportunities. In those school districts where students do really well, the surrounding neighborhoods tend to have a percentage of college educated adults.

Intelligence is innate. People don’t become more intelligent over time. They just gain more knowledge and experience. Smart babies grow up to be smart children who grow up to be smart adults. One cannot teach a dim person enough to make them smart.

Reading is a good example of innate intelligence. About 10% or so of children learn to read with almost no instruction. Just read to them a few times and they pick it right up. Another 10% or so will never be able to read at any proficiency, no matter how much instruction is given. Everyone else can usually learn well enough with sufficient instruction to varying degrees.

Schools provide an important societal function. They tend to sort out the bright from the dim, the exceptional from the mediocre. The sociable from the unsociable.

Most “propaganda” in public schools is just the national narrative, myths and all. The Pilgrim story, the first Thanksgiving, George Washington cut down a cherry tree, how the founders planted the tree of liberty, the shining city on the hill, that we are a country of immigrants, the melting pot of the world.

 

We see it daily. It is called false equivalency. It is like saying creation science has the same validity as biological and geological evolution. Which Republican congressmen have passed resolutions in the House stating such absurdities.

 

Not a word of this is true.

 

The problem being, what is clearly idiotic to the commonsensically inclined is not so to the gullible.

On the contrary, it's done all the time. How else can there be debates about the legitimacy of "same sex marriage" and "transgenderism"?

In these cases you are debating people who have already been brainwashed. If they had been presented both sides of the argument without comprehensive coaching on conclusions, there wouldn’t be much debate.

The gullible are not inherently gullible. They are an intentionally created class of people.

For the record, same sex marriage debate is a result of both sides being ignorant. The state should have no involvement in marriage. It’s authoritarian in nature. Not a fan.

Why do you expect that? They are maintained by political bodies, and, thus, the curriculums are decided by political means.

Why should the authority of the government be accepted as objectively legitimate? It exists only as a myth and by those who believe (ie. Faith) in authority, not by any evidence or fact.

They actually have very poor teachers compared to other institutions.

A lot of parents don’t care about their children’s education. I can agree with that.

There is all kinds of propaganda in schools. And I don’t see the kind you describe as being harmless. Quite the contrary.

My son was in high school not too long ago. The worst part of school isn’t the teachers, although they do teach from an AOC perspective. The worst part of school is the students.

My son’s best friend’s car was hit at a McDonalds parking lot by an illegal alien who spoke no English, had no drivers license, and had no auto insurance. He got on twitter and complained about the “damned illegal that hit my car”. His life was threatened at school for weeks by leftist students.

The teachers may say “Orangeman bad” in their class, but at least they never physically threaten their students.
