I am sure not if this discussion is about military type expansion for conquest by China or economic Mac. LOL.

I see China doing things gradually. Their bureaucracy is extremely minimal, which grants them fast moving monies in contrast.

Hmmm. Picture Russia as Canada. Vast resources from oil to water to rare earth minerals etc. China would be lining up Russia to be akin to what Canada is to the USA as a border/trade nation.

Gotta get to work ;-), but move along that similar line of thought regarding the selected countries of BRICS and bordering trade partnerships, and then Mr. Bushs comments about the changing face of the EU in 5 yrs, but still surviving of course, cuz China doesn't want to kill golden geese as they try to rise to dominant empire world status.

If this senile alarmist really believed what he preached, he would have finished off China long ago without wasting all his time and his country's resources, money and human lives to invade Iraq and Afghanistan. Well, it's still not too late for him to declare war against China if he is really sincere in his belief.

Any war between China and the USA will be the end of the world. Do you believe China can survive a war with the US to target India next? Bush, you are kidding!

Have you ever heard of peace through strength?

The best way to avoid a war with China is to remain strong and keep our guard up.

The famous Chinese general Sun Tzu - who is still studied in military academies around the world - stressed that war should be the last resort for a successful conquerer.

If China can take over and control a foreign country to exploit their resources without war that is even better for them.

Taiwan is the primary target. That makes the US a co-first target. The next concern for China is control of the sea lanes from China to the Persian Gulf via the Indian Ocean. This makes India's blue water navy aspirations a threat to China. This makes India a second target. The US can best thwart China by increasing the prowess of her Asian allies' navies and air forces.

It should be noted that a strong military needs a strong economy, and we have allowed China's to grow at our expense. Another decade of this, and America will have a hard time projecting force so far afield.

Why should China put up with the US trying to dominate and take the lead control in South East Asia and all of the waters surrounding Japan, China and India? China's "aggression" is defensively in respond to the US's offensive aggression there.

and who should allowed to gain countrol of that area? The American Empire?

That's old. The newest accepted wisdom is multi-polar world. One single domination is out. You are in denial of world trend. Why is it so hard for you to accept?
Empire always fall, US should learn that from the Rome Empire, taxed its people to death to maintain that dream is not worth it.

yep, accept it, that area belongs to China.

A famous American Prisident George W Bush - who gives presentations around the world - would simply invade a country to ensure being a successful conquerer.

If America can take over and control a foreign country to exploit their resources with war that is even better for them.

Many progressives didn't like the idea of a lone superpower, but they will rue the day that we return to a "multi-polar world". That's what brought us WWI and WWII.

Why do American care so much about what China will do in that areas?
What do you think if China keep interfering US in this side of Atlantic and Pacific ocean?

You sound like a principal trying to recruit students for a mandarin school.

Isn't it silly to ask a Swede whether he is ready to learn Swedish or whether he can speak Swedish?

Isn't it silly to ask a Russian whether he is ready to learn Russian or whether he can speak Russian?

Isn't it silly to ask a horse whether it can neigh or a tiger whether it can roar?

By the way, what's that has to do with Bush's alarmist warmongering?

Because nations have national interests. Our trading partners and allies are on the other side of the Pacific, and allowing China to control the sea lanes would allow them to strip us of our allies and national interests.

The world is like a bad neighborhood without a 911 to call. The best way to stay secure is to remain strong and allied with others.

I don't know what to do with embittered libs like you.

Libs who are so blinded by hatred for Bush that anything he says you reflexively take the opposite side.

    Oh well.

I think this is talking too far, China has no desire and not capable of to be GLOBAL empie like US does.

Let's talk about present, so far, how'd you like the American empire? It is determined to control the whole world, it will keep continuely pursuing its agenda but South East Asia belongs to China and it is an hugh obstacle to the US's goal.

    Nonsense.

Maybe YOU have no desire for a global empire and just want to be slightly rich.

But that doesn't mean that the Chinese government in Beijing does want an empire.

    Nope.

Democrats would have the US military dismantled, so we'd be defenseless, and the money go to more free stuff for them.
