According to the last poll I read, the ones who want to stop the protests was about 54%. It was taken I believe before Macron spoke and gave concessions to the protesters, so it's probably more now. We'll just have to wait and see what happens this week end and how many show up. I don't doubt that the anarchists and extremists will show up at in Paris, and maybe a few other large cities - but they'll be few in number.

    I'm just guessing you know?

No, I actually meant what I said, but thanks for trying to twist it into something else.

This doesn't appear to impact prosperity.
Countries like Spain, Italy, Greece, and even France, would be better off devaluing and are stuck in the Euro Zone because their debt is denominated in Euros. Dropping the Euro and devaluing would bring on crushing debt that would at the same time be more difficult to finance.
The danger for Europe is that a country like Italy or Spain might repudiate their debt.

You still don't get it--the folks in the Paris streets believe mankind is causing global warming and want their government to make rich people pay much more of the bill to halt climate change.

French people protesting in Paris streets have very little beyond their humanity in common with you.

Of course, it's about more. They're protesting the unequality in society.

american right lives in Faux/info wars bubble...europeans are very much behind climate change and emission reduction, economic adaptation to the new reality is what's causing friction, it's difficult for families to cope with rising costs of change...and it'll continue to be difficult until the switch to green energy is complete...it's not easy financially for lower income families making the switch from a ICE car to an electric, but once done the savings in fuel costs will make up for the initial investment...

and the french are a spoiled bunch, a quick check of their fuel prices show thy're comparable to most eu countries and minimum wage shows it to be comparable to or higher than most...and they receive excellent social benefits

There are very few broadly socialist countries. Anyway, a tax isn't socialist just because a government levies it.

Translation: Doesn’t matter how many individual lives we destroy because we act for the common good of all.

    Or:

Human sacrifices are noble and just for the good of the tribe.

we either all share in the battle against climate change or we all perish...the wealthy who can best absorb the cost of the change should be leading the way financially...

Hmmm? What’s that sound like? Communism? Socialism? Evironmentalism? Feudalism? Mercantilism? Fascism? Wait! I got it! Collectivism.

Or as Spock would put it: The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the one, including his need to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Any Rand: “Collectivism holds that the individual has no rights, that his life and work belong to the group . . . and that the group may sacrifice him at its own whim to its own interests. The only way to implement a doctrine of that kind is by means of brute force—and statism has always been the political corollary of collectivism.”

The vulture, "we", torturing and feeding off of the "one", the independent soul.

Perhaps what we are seeing in France is Prometheus unbound and strangling the vultures.

Yikes, the great and powerful "we".

Oh, you’re a very good altruistic collectivist. But wait. What if I say no? Not a problem, you say-- "We" will get the government’s gun and "we" will force you.

BTW: I want the climate to change. I want it to get warmer, a helluva lot warmer-- I'll pay less for food, and I'll be swimming in February. What's to hate?

Objectivism is as dead as the dodo bird. You won't beat the worst political aspects of collective values with a selfish individualism.

Absolutely. You can raise the price of gasoline to $15/gallon and triple airfares and I won't change any aspect of my behavior. It's just a cost of doing business. But it would ruin a lot of everyday folks. That's wrong and it should not stand.

The rich can leave their money at the door on their way out according to the protest types.

It may not cross your skull, but rich people don't have an infinite number of places to go. Taxes on them can be raised without driving them away. Have you been to Antibes or Cannes? There are plenty of rich folks in France.

Change is coming--here, too. Presidunce Lard Bucket is a fraud and everyday folks will get nasty when it becomes obvious.

If you make $100k per year, Fatso might be your pal. Short of that, you're a dupe.
