This reality seems to be particularly hard for the Yellowshirt supporters in the US to accept.
I think it is possible that they are projecting their own issues onto the protests.
It is also hard to get them to admit that it has very little to do with immigration.

It was a monopoly, so not a very good example of capitalism & competition.

In a pure sense it's a perfect example. Rockefeller was best at what he did and destroyed his competition.

It was a new industry and one family was able to create a monopoly. No one else had a chance. Even if monopolies are born out of successful companies (capitalism), a monopoly is not a good example of competition and capitalism since it destroys competition.

The monopoly came after the big win in competition with competitors that Rockefeller gobbled up. That's capitalism in it's pure form which led to robber barons and monopolies. Capitalism does need regulations to stop that from occuring because as you say at that point competition ends.

we need to change our behaviour but it needs to be done in a way that doesn't cause havoc with the economic and social fabric....

electric cars need to arrive soon in large numbers and at a price lower income people can afford,

tax rebates, if Carbon taxes are meant to make using fossil fuels painful, why not tax rebates to encourage green energy...

governments need to mandate minimum home standards, we have the technology for homes in cold climates to nearly 100% energy free for heating but as long as people have the choice they'll spend their cash on granite counter tops for the kitchen and big screen tvs rather than better insulation to reduce heating bills and CO2 emissions...with minimum home standards all home builders are on the same page and none get punished for building efficient housing

Many on the U.S. right love the idea lower- and middle-income French reject carbon taxes, but the Americans misunderstand French politics.

Might have been except for that rotten, putrid Rockefeller family and their foundation.

If you are talking about the images of an APC it's because it was previously used in Kosova as part of an EU mission.

Well no...wouldnt they be carrying the flag of France.
Merkel wanted a EU army because they couldnt rely on the US..this is to get the French people, and the world accustomed to the fact that a EU army will, one day, exist.

Throughout history, the earth is changing. There have been ice ages and periods of drought. Those who adapt survive. In the modern world, those with wealth will be much more capable of acquiring what is needed to survive if it comes to that. If food becomes scarce and expensive, the food banks will be the first to see the shortages. When the rich quit supporting things they soon fail. If the wealthy have to spend more of their income on food, they will have less for charity.

Mother Nature is self correcting. When a species grows past the numbers that can be supported, changes happen that kill a portion of that species. The fact is that if man caused CO2 causes global warming, the only thing that can end it is less people. If the earth gets to a point where not enough food can be produced to feed the population, it will be the poor who die first. In fact, of the top 5 food producing countries in the world only the United States and Brazil produce enough food to feed their population and have excess for export at this time. The huge number of immigrants coming to the US is taking millions of those food producing acres out of production. This is just as likely to cause the poor to starve as global warming. More people mean less green space and more heat producing concrete.

When it's tighten-up time and it comes to the food bank or a Steinway, or even a Fazioli, in the parlor, the grand piano will get the nod.

It was Macron who wanted the EU army.

Youre correct, but Merkel supported Macrons desires for an EU Army.
This in fact, makes it even worse.

That is funny. Countries that hate and distrust each other are going to combine militaries. Who is going to run it? The Germans will not be part of anything they can't run. You think the French are going to let the Germans send their boys off to death? Most of Europe has no modern military and no budget to acquire one. What happens when the march order comes and most of their equipment is out of service? Europe's militaries and economy are based on the US carrying their water. Without the US, it would take decades for Europe to become relevant again and my how those social programs will suffer. If you think you are seeing protests now what will happen when the governments start diverting billions of dollars into military spending and away from the give aways?

Im simply trying to point out what a mess Europe is in. To even speak about an EU Army is yes laughable.
But this is what the nutjobs running Germany and France have drummed up.

Well, then, let's stop taxing rich people. :nerd:
Yeah, well, there are countries outside of the top five who are net exporters of food.

As for your notion the poor will die first... threats to use nanotechnology and biotechnology WMD could be used by pooer countries to demand food from richer countries.
    Oh, please--this is absurd.
