I don't remember ramen noodles being a thing back then...at least the Top Ramen kind in the prepackaged individual servings. We did make our own, though, with beef or chicken broth and diced spam and onions.
I'm sure by the time they get to college they will have some worldly knowledge of budgeting, oh wait, they're in college, never mind, Muh Bad
Wonderful post Jimbo. Total meaningless. Ever been to college? No need to answer. In leftie world, everything is orange man bad.
College students are very, very dumb. They're full grown adults so damn dumb they sign their name to loans that they find difficult to repay. Time for them to get off their ass and start paying. Woman on the evening news is teaching and says she met the requirement to make every payment for ten years for the remainder of her loan to be forgiven -- just for teaching the chilwren. But she also claims the loan principal went from 30k to 80k during that time. How the hell does that happen? When you make regular payments and do not miss the loan principal goes down. She's lying and CBS MSM is papering over her lies.
Unemployment compensation is for people who have been laid off from their jobs. That is what is meant by "unemployment" in this context ---- it doesn't mean generically "any person who is not employed". There are specific guidelines for a person to be eligible for unemployment compensation ---- having been laid off from a job is at the heart of it. We're really in trouble if we start paying people just for being unemployed That is not the spirit nor intent of unemployment compensation.
Well if your so concerned with Americans college students I'm sure you can find a suitable program to fund or feed as many student as you like! I found over a dozen such charities with a simple search string, the least you could do is show your supports with a few bucks, it would be far more helpful then posting to a silly forum don't you think?
You have no idea what you are talking about. Why would you try and connect "at will" with being paid via unemployment for college students?
State law defines employment relationships for the State. What law, gainsays the supremacy of State law in any of our several and sovereign States? only people who have no understanding of economics, claim what you do.
When you get laid off that is your opportunity to take a job and learn more skills -- while you are waiting for the callback. Or you can sit on your ass and draw your pennies, as they say.
This is the problem Jay they aren't full grown. The age of majority used to be 21, where it should go back to. We changed the age to 18 for political reasons issuing out of the Vietnam conflict. No human of average intelligence, within two standard deviations of normal IQ, should be able to vote or enter into contracts until they reach the age of 21. Frankly, we're stealing from immature and not yet fully developed minds. It's shameful.
Maybe not today's kids. I'd already had a job in highschool, and had to budget at least enough to save for a car (and gas and insurance.) Maybe these kids need a little less liberal indoctrination in highschool, and a little more education on the basics of things like budgeting and economics.
If the future plan is to drop the net and enslave them that's hard to do if they are actually educated.
with unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed, students could focus on learning or upgrading their skills or fulfilling general education requirements.
Is that how Australia deals with it? Starvation in the land of plenty: why Australians are malnourished Maybe fix Australia problems before commenting on other countries! Seem in Australia you don't need to be in College just be ELDERLY or Indigenous either will get you there..
