I did. It is about wartime powers. In any case, the South also engaged in a defensive war; it seems more complicated than offensive war.

I applaud the attempt to get back on topic. So let us discuss the legal bases for the three inter-related event.

Something you need to know about HBendor - if you don't respond, he claims victory.

    No.
The question is irrelevant to your constitution.
I don't give a fig about the latter as a 'sine qua non'.
What matters is international law - Nuremberg trials; ICJ rulings; UN Charter; League of Nations Covenant; Hague Rules of War; etc.

Yom Kippur. Interesting one. So you want to discuss that as an example of a defensive war?
Yom Kippur - a good choice for a defense of Israel's position because, of all of the major conflicts, it is the one where Israel was LEAST responsible.

Here is a question for you, HB - how did it start? I ask because the concept of "first strike" is key to the concept of definitions.

    No responses?

Is that because no-one knows, or because any reply is inconvenient?
If "no-one knows" shouldn't we undertake mutual education - HBendor is an educationalist.

A defensive war is outlined in our federal Constitution. It is only irrelevant to the right because they got it wrong.

So the US Constitution allows for a first-strike defensive war - have I understood correctly?

I ask, because I searched for that but could not find it.

Powers of the states. No state has engaged in war here, making the passage irrelevant to the current situation

Why am I not surprised; are you on the right?

It isn't irrelevant, it is about wartime powers.

I take it, therefore, that you cannot show where the constitution sanctions "defensive wars". If so, you would have ..... nah, never mind.
Repeatedly asking for proof, when none is forthcoming becomes ...... boring.

I guess you are on the right.

What does this mean to you?

Powers of the states. NOT the power of the nation. Like it says, "No State"

Wrong. Political compass makes me centre-libertarian
Not much. Israel is not a US state .... at least it wasn't when I last looked.

Analogies explaining wartime powers means nothing to you; I got it.

You missed the concept, didn't you.

Here it is for your ease and convenience:

No, YOU missed that the concept applies to the "STATE". No state was waging war.

Foreign States are also States. It is for warpowers clarification, not special pleading.

No, our Constitution has no relevance to the war making powers of "Foreign States" and the constitution is controlling in reference to the special case of these United States and no others. And NO state has waged war in the Mid East

Are you on the right? You don't seem to understand the concepts involved.

I understand them just fine. YOU dont seem to understand the concept of "no state" in the context of the US Constitution and these United States. Is amusing though to watch you hopelessly confuse yourself.

No, you don't. A State is a State, even in the US with our general government.

No one has claimed otherwise. Watch the silly little man dash off after the strawman seeking refuge.

Excellent!!! 'Grats. I had fervently hoped that the difference between Israel and Indiana would dawn.
Not at all. I understood the difference between Israel and Indiana all the way.
Wrong. Dixon also understood it in Post #92
There's not much shade for him there, Dixon.

Since you like old documents, DP, you might care to revisit M. de Vattels Book III in his series "The Law of War" - http://www.constitution.org/vattel/vattel_03.htm. He eloquently draws a fine distinction between "the reasons for a War" and "the justice for a War", and even treats the "unjust offensive war". Good reading.

Regarding your constitution, I quite enjoyed Rob Natelton's commentary:
I presume that I do not need to point out that Pres. Johnson had nothing to do with approvals when Israel poked at Syria.

So, DP, do you have an opinion as to how Israel's poking of Syria in 1966/1967 should be seen in the context of a so-called defensive war?
Anyone? I mean the Zionist apologists keep on claiming it was, so it should be dead obvious:
