    Sure, by keeping interest rates too low. Causes both inflation and high employment. Biden should follow Regan's example and induce a recession by raising interest rates.\\

    Metaphors and analogies make little sense when taken literally. You're not trying to keep people from voting (oh but yes you are) but to keep the election honest ( the last thing you want.)

    Why not just hold the election in a building not specified until election day, from 12 to 1 AM, and have some vicious dogs guard it who only your cronies know the calming word for. That will be secure as all get out. OK, that's silly, why not just don't have any elections at all, what can be more secure than that?

    The last time the mid-terms weren't a disaster for a newly elected president was back in 2002 and 9/11 had a lot to do with why it didn't happen to Bush.

    Reagan was nowhere near as omnicompetent as Eisenhower. Reagan was very lucky in that no real crises came during his administration. The USA is very lucky in that Reagan was above most things a man of good will. Once he thought he had to go beyond that paradigm was when things started to fall apart, fortunately his 8 years was nearly up by then and one of his major talents besides always was picking good people.

    Typical Republican pols are like all pols but magnified. Particularly they seem to see lying and cheating as "just politics". Dems do that too but Republicans do it more so and sometimes for no reason I can see.

    These are 'typical" Republicans, not all Republicans do that.

    Able Archer 1983 was the last time in the Cold War that the U.S. and U.S.S.R. came close to nuclear war when the Soviets decided that the Able Archer command exercise by NATO was cover for a preemptive strike against Russia.

    It has been reported that the Soviets actually prepared a regiment of strike fighters in East Germany (SU-24s probably) with nuclear weapons so they could make their own preemptive strike against NATO targets.

    All polls right now have Trump beating Biden or any Democrat. That is how bad the Democrats are right now. At this point Trump has little chance of hurting the Republicans in the midterms.
