I find myself in a District that swings both ways but party politics don't normally play a factor as big as the person holding the seat. Our present rep is a Democrat and keeps her newsletter up to date and answers her e-mails. I like her personally but I will vote against her this time because she is a strictly party follower. My believe is that no candidate, be they Democrat or Republican, should vote 100% with the leadership. Our country suffers because neither party is willing to compromise and what was good 2 or 4 years ago is now bad because a different party is in power. The worse part is that if one disagree's they are open for demonization. For me it is pocketbook issues and my standard of living. Is it getting better or worse? How dis my rep vote.

Except you did bad, not well. You set a low standard and you couldn't even meet that.
You can't do well if you don't get the populace on your side. You can't get the populace on your side if you're supporting warlords who use their boys as sex slaves for ****'s sake.
Would you support an occupying military who kept people in power who were enslaving and raping your children? Use your brain.

Those were relatively minor problems in the broad scheme of things, more useful to some as an excuse for dishonor than a real explanation of anything.

No they're an illustration of a broader problem: You thought winning a war in afghanistan only took beating the **** out of any enemy that made itself known and stood still long enough to air or artillery strike. You thought you didn't need to the populace to turn to your side, to your way of thinking, that you could simply work with the strongest scum you could find and that would all turn out just fine.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Its just a shame that you leadership types weren't on the tip of the spear instead of all those soldiers you sacrificed for your misbegotten pride and odd conception of honor that allows you to work with slaving child rapists in your own camps

Your narrative is so inaccurate that I see no point in continuing. In plain words, you don't know what you are talking about.

Sure sure sure, I'm sure working with child rapists and arming and installing warlords had nothing to do with a 1/3rd of the populace wanting you dead, another 1/3rd not caring about the old set coming back enough to fight them because its 6 of 1 and a half dozen of the other.
Super honorable of you to work with child rapists who preyed upon the people you claim you were protecting and whom you protected and punished anyone who tried to put a stop to it.
Much honor. Very noble. Such duty.

Congressman Jim Langevin from my state of Rhode Island has joined the list of Democrats not seeking another term. I thought he was old, but he's only 58. This is his 11th term. Maybe he believes in term limits.

You would think Rhode Island is a safe Democratic state but there are a couple of prominent Independents. If one of them runs the winner might end up with less than 40% of the popular vote.
There is also a Republican who got over 40% running for Governor twice. He could win the seat if he tries. The Libertarian Party sometimes exceeds 5%.
Rhode Island voted for Bernie in the 2016 primaries, and he won big in that part of the state. Trump took a lot of towns in that district both elections.
There are some radicals like him and if one of them runs, he might lose the general election.
The state is suffering from liberal fatigue so don't be surprised if that seat flips.
