Apparently you're under the guise that Democrats do not Gerrymander. One needs only look to Illinois to know that your assertion is inaccurate.

Granted, not a fan of gerrymandering but it use is done on both sides of the isle.

    Oy vey!

Constitution. Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 of the document reads, ‘The Congress shall have Power To … exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States.’”

For more clarification, you only need to loo at Madison's Federalist 43.

    Again, civics my friend.

AS will never be a state.... There's barely 50K people living there...If you are going to go way out in the Pacific, you'd probably have to add Guam first, which is also too small at 168K

Moving the goal post to get your power is not constitutional means.

LOL... you really are new to this thread, aren't you.... read some posts from page 1, expecially #3...

There is nothing that says how SMALL "such District" is...

Nobody is saying the entire current plot of land known as the D of C would become a state....

The Senate is supposed to represent the STATES. The House represents the People. For DC will take a constitional amendment and the approval of Maryland. PR has to have the approval of PR voters.

And the founding fathers explained why in the federalist papers why a federal district, a buffer was necessary and those reason still exist.
What do you think would be left of the capital if you create this new state so ALL the citizens who live there live in this new state?

Neither is theft of a SCOTUS seat or attempting to overthrow the largest election in our nation’s history but that didn’t stop y’all. So be it.

What unconstitutional argument, I'm arguing the Constitution which is based on the Federalist Papers. You should try it. And it's going to require an Amendment.

    Arguments against[edit]
Prior to the District's founding, James Madison argued in Federalist No. 43 that the national capital needed to be distinct from the states in order to provide for its own maintenance and safety. He wrote, "but a dependence of the members of the general government on the State comprehending the seat of the government, for protection in the exercise of their duty, might bring on the national councils an imputation of awe or influence, equally dishonorable to the government and dissatisfactory to the other members of the Confederacy."[49] The current proposed statehood movements address (and resolve) this concern by reserving an independent enclave for the federal government buildings.[50] Specifically, the statehood legislation supported by the District government carves out an enclave within the proposed state, encompassing the White House, Capitol Building, Supreme Court Building, and other major federal offices, to act as the new federal district, known as "The Capital".[50]

By supermajority and a supermajority of states. And I don't believe this bill proposes an amendment they are trying to do legislatively.

You need to think a little further and read the 23rd amendment which grants two electoral votes for President and VP to the residents of the District of Columbia and voting seats on Congressional committees. If we change the DC to just those buildings who would be the only residents of DC?

It would not take a constitutional amendment, and PR had a vote in the last election and the side that wanted to petition for statehood won.

Please prove how the SCOTUS seat was stolen!? Democrats have the majority in the Senate and if one happens to pass, they have EVERY right to either vote on a replacement or wait. That is their constitutional right.

And by attempting, you mean by going the legal route and filing cases to have the results reviewed? You do realize that President Trump is now former President Trump, right?

And the 3 hour protest that took place on January 6th should have anyone who did damage to the capital arrested and charged accordingly. The remaining 50,000+ people were there to merely support their candidate. Granted, burning down federal buildings is perfectly acceptable as long as it follows a liberal narrative.

Yea, this isn't true. The Constitution was written before the Federalist Papers. The Federalist Papers were written by three founders in an effort to convince NY to ratify the Constitution. In short, they were explaining what was contained in the Constitution.
