Show where in the constitution it mandates the size? I’ll wait

I don’t know what a moonie is, is that a boomer term?

And your typical response. get put in a box, and respond with "squirrel"... You haven't changed, or frankly gotten any better at this.

No. First, you wrote that the Constitution was based on the FP and then you wrote that it was based on principles contained within the FP. Those are inconsistent statements.

Hmm.. well, article 1 has some thoughts... 10 square miles. says it right there in black and white. Similarly, the "statehood" of DC is legally impossible given that the artiface of the district was to entirely remove it as a state because it is inconsistent with the district being the federal space. >>>MOD EDIT FLAMEBAIT REMOVED<<< Allow the district to remain, and absorb the citizens in VA and MD> done.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't those 4 Senators still chosen by who can rope the most calves in 15 minutes??

And do you realize the current D of C is NO LONGER 10 square miles??

    What does that tell you?

Was a constitutional amendment required to reduce the size??

I was gone for an hour and the arguments are actually getting worse.... which is the norm...

Immigrants want to move and the right tells them to stay and fight for change
Dc citizens want to do just that, and righties tell them to move?

It tells me that like all government, it cannot help itself and it grows. And now that it has, it should be absorbed as it should have been by MD and VA. Done.

That would be an option, if either Va or Md wanted to absorb them....

They don't, and nobody can actually make them, Mr. States Rights....

I absolutely love when people who are completely missing the point imply that I am the one whose education is lacking. It is hilarious. They aren't equal. The OP was wrong when he wrote that the Constitution was based on the FP. It couldn't be as the FP were written AFTER the Constitution (not to mention it was written by three founders and not all of them). Instead of admitting he learned something new which is a good thing, he changed his argument to the Constitution being based on principles contained within the FP (so he tries to drag the FP before the Constitution by tying it to the "principles" contained in it). It would be better to write, "The Federal Papers were written to explain the principles contained within the Constitution to the citizens of NY in an effort to get NY to ratify" but that would actually require information OP did not know.

As for my avatar, it merely shows that I am an American, not a seditious, kool-aid guzzler trying to overthrow the government so the golfer-in-chief and his d-level porn model wife can continue to retain power and allow more people to needlessly die from their gross incompetence. Got it?

Yes, if you actually think the D of C GREW larger than 10 square miles, we are done...

I just read your signature... this thread is a mini encapsulation of RW nonsense theory...

Once the issue of retaining a Federal Capitol area within the current boundaries of what is DC today (and I'd like to see the actual map they are proposing in this bill), there is NO legitimate issue preventing DC statehood...

However, I was the OP here and I never brought up the Federalist Papers (mainly because it has no bearing on this topic)...

Just for giggles, close your eyes and imagine if Wyoming was in place of Maryland here.

Still want 712K people absorbed into another state?

    Didn't think so....

Ok. I understand now. I didn't think about it. It is actually funny that the residents of the white house would have three electoral votes. Are there live in staff at the white house or do all the workers leave at the end of their day? I honestly don't know. It would be worth it even if the Presidential family alone got three electoral votes because it is the two Senate seats that are important here.

The interesting issue is when the only two residents of DC are Biden and Jill and she won't vote for him because he pissed her off. I think this could be very entertaining and only makes me want DC to become a state more. I could absolutely have seen Malinia voting against Donny.

That's not how it works. The only people who get to "make them" anything are the residents of DC and Congress. Looks like both favor statehood. Your opinion is noted, but irrelevant outside your voice to your elected representatives, unless you are a resident of DC.

I finally found a proposed map of the Federal Area... it's not a simple square (obviously) but it is contiguous... Has a couple of "bulges" for what I imagine are occupied residential buildings or commercial properties (hotels)

This works for me... Still lots of available Federal Buildings to riot in for all of those with hurt fee-wees

Where are the principles and reasonings upon which Constitution is based epxlained and stated? The Federalist Papers. Now either discuss the issue or stop wasting my time with your specious semantics.

It should go back to Maryland, it should not be a state.

puerto rico should be a state.
