Got it wrong again, didn't you? Do you folks work at getting **** wrong?

"Last night on this show, I discussed information that wasn't ready for reporting," O'Donnell said. "I repeated statements a single source told me about the president's finances and loan documents with Deutsche Bank saying 'if true'-- as I discussed the information-- was simply not good enough. I did not go through the rigorous verification and standards process here at MSNBC before repeating what I heard from my source. Had it gone through that process, I would not have been permitted to report it. I should not have said it on-air or post it on Twitter. I was wrong to do so."

"This afternoon, attorneys for the president sent us a letter asserting the story is false. They also demanded a retraction. Tonight, we are retracting the story," O'Donnell continued. "We don't know whether the information is inaccurate. The fact is we do know it wasn't ready for broadcast and for that I apologize."

Notice how they day they don't know if the story is inaccurate? That means they also don't know if it is accurate. They just publish crap that makes their fantasy world feel better.
It seems NBC has problems with their people just making crap up:

On February 4, 2015, Williams apologized for and recanted his disproven Iraq War story that he had told on a Nightly News broadcast on January 30, 2015. He claimed that a military helicopter he was traveling in had been "forced down after being hit by an RPG."

Sure it is. Veselnitskaya was expelled from the US. Veselnitskaya contacted Rob Goldstone. Veselnitskaya was granted a special visa. Veselnitskaya joined Simpson in DC. Simpson worked for Clinton.

It’s crazy we live in a country where more documents are required to be given a loan than there are for being given nuclear launch codes.

    Terrifying even

It depends, some loans are structured with a personal guarantor especially if it is a “new” LLC or tax entity. Proving income is an absurd task when you own a business or are a major shareholder as you have to submit corporate financial statements to prove your schedule K returns. If you own several corporations you likely have to submit each that you are claiming an income from.

Yeah ... Odonnell is an ass. He retracted the lie to avoid a lawsuit, but that doesn't mean he was lying? The letter Trump's lawyer sent to MSNBC says the loan docs ARE publicly accessible, thus Odonnell didn't try to corroborate. Deutsche surrendered Trump's records months ago BTW. These are records for Trump's kids, Ivanka and Eric.

Yeah, then why can't anybody find them? Can you??

DB surrendered some of Trump's records months ago... Not all, per the hearing last week... More to come.

    SNIP
With just a few minutes left, Judge Hall asks the legal counsel for Deutsche Bank, Raphael Prober, and Capital One, James Murphy, to appear. He asks Prober whether the bank had the tax returns of any of the named entities. Prober refuses to respond, citing contractual obligations.

Confused, Judge Hall asks what privilege Prober is asserting. Prober responds that the bank has contractual obligations to its clients. Frustrated, Judge Hall asks, “You think that you can contract away the obligation to answer a court’s question?” Prober cites the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act protecting private financial information, and Judge Hall rejects the answer: “We need to know.” After a heated exchange during which Prober says he will “explore” the issue and that they could “continue” the conversation, Judge Hall requests that Deutsche Bank and Capital One—which also declined to answer—tell the court within 48 hours whether they do or do not have the president’s tax returns. The hearing concludes with a discussion of how much of the subpoenaed materials the banks had collected so far. And with that, the courtroom clears out.

Per #112 ... It's a safe bet MSNBC found the loan docs, and if they haven't they'll sure publish them to vindicate the network. I don't blame you for citing MSNBC's 1st report, but now you're saying that despite the retraction the story wasn't inaccurate, just premature. That's Odonnell's alibi, what will yours be?

What would your "conspiracy theory" be?

I have noted Trump's repeated assurances that he has no problem with the release of his tax returns and, whilst he may have been otherwise preoccupied replacing 'ObamaCare' with "something terrific!" that covers "everybody!" at "less cost!", constructing his "big, beautiful wall!" paid for by Mexico, rebuilding the nation's crumbling infrastructure, and eliminating the national debt, he should now welcome assistance from Deutche Bank in fulfilling his vow concerning his delayed disclosure that is honored by all presidential candidates.

You will recall that Trump himself expressed confidence that coming clean would accrue to his greater glory:

Trump told Fox News that releasing the returns is a ...
    "great thing!"
because it lets a person prove
"you've been successful, and that you've made a lot of money!"

    "I actually think it's a positive!"
    he said.

    I don't need an alibi...

I'm saying that's what O'Donnell was saying.... If he got it wrong, he got it wrong.... If he got it right, he got it right.

    Too early to tell

No... something has to be debunked before further promotion qualifies...

We're in agreement on that. MSM ought to be highly motivated to confirm this allegation. I find it hard to believe a Russian oligarch co-signed a loan he didn't have a significant stake in, and that a joint Trump / Russian business venture has remained a secret. MSNBC is the network most invested in Russiagate, and that's reason enough for skepticism IMO.

Yup... that doesn't make it debunked, just not corroborated, a big mistake by O'Donnell which he admitted yesterday.

They look for assets, and liabilites.

I don't know what documents every bank may look for, tax returns however are an easy way to show what you earned the year prior.
