Yeah, cleaning and other things. What a wonderful list of helpful things that California has overlooked. A+

Apparently it is taking it out of context to say one part of a statement is particularly stupid. Apparently, in context the Finns really do spend a lot of time on raking.

Just out of curiosity why is a silly remark by the King of Trolls more debate worthy than decades of misguided management by a state that just caused the death of maybe hundreds of people?

But we know how California manages it's risk. They are busy capturing cow farts and such- while fire watch towers are abandoned or rented out to hikers. California seems not to know they have a fire until it is large enough to be seen from Hawaii, who probably then calls California and raises the alarm.

Fires will happen; the key to whether they are large or insignificant is the issue. And in fact- the underbrush growth is the key to that control. The big trees require a great deal of heat and flames to get them burning, and that comes from tall grasses and underbrush that can provide enough heat to dry and ignite trees. Without that brush, when it is kept low- burns go through forest without starting forest fires. Such fires are also approachable and controllable with little effort. However, the government of the state has to actually think ahead and take action before big fires start. The very number and extent of California fires prove they don't. California lives on the passion of the moment, never looks ahead to see what it leads to.

    Some details-

Most people who have lived in areas where fires are a problem know that you have to keep the woods clean of debris which adds fuel. Apparently California does not know this or at least they ignored it.

Wait...do you think people in other areas gather up all the leaves in forests each season?

The post you replied to on page 1 wasn't quoting him. Not that "cleaning and doing things" made any difference.

That appears to be exactly what he and another poster are trying to claim. As if no one else has ever seen a forest. And as if people in California are doing something radical.

The president of Finland said that they did not talk about how Finland performs forrest management.

You realize that every time the press reports the truth about Donnie he screams like a screwed goose in a French Pate factory.

"I was with the President of Finland, and he said: 'We're a forest nation' and they spent a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things, and they don't have any problem."

They do controlled burns. Also, in Colorado, I picked up larger limbs and trees. I burned most of it in our fire place and ground up some.

This was not a quote? "I was with the President of Finland, and he said: 'We're a forest nation' and they spent a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things, and they don't have any problem."

What you posted was a quote.
What the user posted was not a quote. It did not need to be and he made no attempt to pretend it was.

Trump suggested that Finland prevents forest fires by raking the forests. <--- not a quote yet 100% true.

    Hmmmmm

Gov. Jerry Brown Quietly Admits Trump Was Right, Eases California Logging Rules

California Gov. Jerry Brown appears to have quietly admitted President Donald Trump's suggestion about improving California forestry was correct and is now urging state lawmakers to loosen restrictive logging regulations put in place to appease environmentalists.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that Brown is proposing one of the most significant changes to the state's logging rules in nearly half a century.

"Gov. Jerry Brown is proposing broad new changes to California’s logging rules that would allow landowners to cut larger trees and build temporary roads without obtaining a permit as a way to thin more forests across the state," the paper reports.

Unless they clear the underbrush, its not going to help much.

I’m sure there is some endangered rodent that must have the brush for habitat...

Oh right...Trumps eloquent quote about ‘cleaning and doing things’. You took that to mean the people of Finland are getting rid of all the leaves in the forests, did ya???

No. I took that to mean that they get rid of the dried fuel. Fallen leaves contribute very little to forest fires.
