Evidently, the Muslim Brotherhood has done quite well in the Egyptian elections... here's the news from early morning Friday: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/story/2012-05-25/egypt-election/55200094/1

I am admittedly ignorant concerning the intricacies of Egyptian politics, but unlike many of my fellow Americans, at least I can find Egypt on a map of the world.... From a pragmatic American standpoint, should we simply expect to send the winner (whoever that is) the customary billion dollars a year like we did for many years for Mubarak? It will be interesting to see if Obama is stupid enough to do this until he gets re-election over with and has (as he muttered to Medvedev) more "flexibility"....

If Shafik wins then yes you will be sending us the money. The bribe will continue to be paid.

If Morsi wins then you your bribery money will be rejected.

Mubaraks felool mafia gave us the status of one of the biggest corrupt regimes in the world.

Something not all Egyptians are proud of.

No doubt your rendition program will continue also as Shafik will most likely re install Omar Suleiman his chief torturer back into the dungeons downtown Nasr City.

Abu Sina - were we ever told the full details of that bribe , i.e. how many strings are attached and how much of it find's it way back to America ?

Many naive US citizens belief that so-called " US Government Aid" to developing nations are due to america's "generosity " - for altruistic reasons. They are often totally unaware of the boomerang conditions attached to those AID programs, that it keeps many thousands americans in gainful employment. Cutting off Aid to Egypt will quite likely also increase America's jobless numbers. A large portion of the AID is self-serving, it gets funneled right back to the United States

It appears that Egypt will chose between a muslim fundamentalist and a throwback to the Mubarek regime. It begs the question did a revolution even occur.

Egypt is a mess and headed for anarchy.

Isn't it cute to see how Western ' commentators ' can only function when they believe that choice is limited to two  They reduce freedom of choice to ' this one or that one ' and thinks that's democracy. What a stupid model

Hopefully, Egyptians will realize that the Mos. Bros. are capable of shifting power from the military to civilians. Mubarak's boy will struggle to do that. However, now that they have attained ' a voice ' Egyptians are not simply going to sit down and watch. Whoever wins the presidency must win the people- pretty dammed quick ! He can only be an executor of the people's will- or he'll be following Mubarak into protective custody.

Terrific choices. Either an Islamofacist or Mubarak 2.0. Either way they lose.

Man, I'm glad that I don't live in that backward sh*thole called Egypt.

Yep. As they say- ' Better the backward sh*thole you know '

Again, a Mos. Bros president is Egypt's best solution. Lots of Americans might not have noticed that its a predominantly muslim country. Who would you prefer, President Palin ? Even so, it's the Arab Republic of Egypt- not a muslim State. Those who clamor for a sectarian State of Israel would do well to mark the difference.

    Morsi v Shafik

What is being said in Egypt to different scenarios

There are calls for a referendum by the people to have run off with top 3 candidates. If this happens Sabahi will win.

Calls for Morsi to step aside and for Sabahi to run against Shafik.

Calls for Morsi to announce cabinet with Fotouh-Sabahi-Coptic woman in top positions.

Calls for kidnapping of Morsi to allow Sabahi to run against Shafik.

Calls for murder of Shafik to allow Morsi v Sabahi run off.

    As the Americans say

"all options are on the table"

Ala'a Al Aswani the famous author is calling for a live debate challenging Shafik to answer questions on his involvement in 35 charges of corruption .

Egyptians are in shock but are mobilizing all avenues and resources to stop Mubaraks regime from returning through Shafik.

A lot of anger against Coptic Christians voting for Shafik currently.

The conscripts and camel driver we understand but not the Copts???

Questions being asked why they supported Shafik and not Sabahi or Mussa.

Not a good sign at all and will definitely polarize the people as I said.

    Tough times ahead.

The Abu Ismail Wahabi worshippers who said they would support Fotouh we obviously realise now that that was a lie just as the 'nose job MP' and Abu Ismails mother being US citizen!!

Well surprise surprise they now announce that if Shafik wins they are calling for no protesters

    Never trust a Wahabi!

Can you explain why only apparently only around 50 out of the 180 million are eligible to vote, the 130 million can't be children?

Isn't it cute to see how you think the West can learn a lot from the Middle East's improvements on democracy as an acceptable system, with the Egyptian model reducing freedom of choice in a run off between "this one or that one" for only a couple of days later to claim this is a stupid model! Only somehow you manage to point the finger at the West!

What grade of fool would assume that I stated that Egypt would achieve a supreme democratic model at the first time of asking - let alone refer to it on a public forum ?
