Read the articles. It's a lot worse than that. And I was never part of an exercise that wasn't as realistic as possible. MILES gear sucked, BFA's sucked, but we still had real weapons. Big difference humping a broomstick and a .50 cal broken into 3 pieces weighing well over 100lbs total.
Why would Germany be the spearhead of of the NATO Rapid Defense Force in Europe, if it had only broomsticks? and even command it
I expanded the picture but no broomstick is there. Edit the picture and circle what you think is a broomstick.
You know using brooms in training is not exactly that unusual. U.S. troops were doing the same thing prior to World War Two.
If you read the articles it will make more sense. Basically their military isn't combat ready. At all.
I'm not suggesting that, I'm just saying that according to these reports, Germany has problems with military hardware availability.
They also used telephone poles hauled on the back of trucks to "simulate" tanks (they had "tank" painted on the side of the trucks).
Nope that is not the reason, they have been it for many years, and even increased the commitment. The NATO Rapid Deployment unit is a German unit. and commanded by a German Tank General.
Yuo, that's why they are the leader of the Nato Rapid Deployment force and provide the largest contingent and command it since years. The broomsticks
So you're saying the equipment problems are false as reported? I honestly don't know. I was never really in the European theater.
Well yeah but when war breaks out that's not a great time to start figuring it out though. I'm just trying to deal with facts here. Please don't take it as an insult.
Germany Egan to expand military spending since Biden took over. Germany add promises to expand defense spending but basically laughed at Trump when Trump talked about Germany and company paying more in NATO cues. The clueless Trump turd did not understand that the way NATO is “funded” is that member countries expand their spending on their military. There is not stand alone NATO army. Looks as of Sir Numb Nuts never understood that.
No they are not wrong. The German Army is in dismal shape, except for some very elite units, they are top notch. The main problems is, those elite units get what ever they need, but the rest is does not. Elit means 20k out of 280k. Since 20 years the Bundeswehr was seriously neglected. In my eyes on purpose. A good military did not fit into the political climate. So now you have the minimum, of that policy/attitude but huge responsibilities. What do you do, make those elite Units as good as possible, and make the rest as bad as possible, because of it, because of the limited resources Will change in the future, maybe.
well again its down to the details I suppose, my understanding is that they are stored under a dual key system and are US inventory - they are not German and certainly cannot be used independently by Germany. They are US weapons.
