Then they should move out of any state where this is legal. People's rights do not get denied because of wussies.

What if you don't flaunt your guns but you own 4 of them, one is loaded in your home at all times, and only your family has seen it. Is that a gun nut?

what you expect from gun nuts? they could move to somalia, but i suspect they'd still be loudmouths

probably not, unless you're yearning to buy more guns

Not in my book. Though I hope that loaded gun is kept secure from children. Maybe where you live a loaded gun makes sense, but for most people it's more likely to cause death or injury to family members than be used to protect you against intruders.

I own four guns -- two .22 rifles, a .303 British jungle carbine, and a .410 shotgun. I use them for target and skeet shooting. Since they're not for home defense, they're kept locked up and unloaded in my basement.

My youngest child is 18. and the other one that lives at home is 26. They are familiar with guns and respectful in all manner of speaking. They are VERY good kids and would never touch my gun unless it was an emergency. Everyone in this household knows where the gun is and that it is loaded and that's fine with me. My wife is afraid of it (I wish she wasn't) and may not even use it in an emergency. 3 of my guns are black powder and only I know how to load them. I would like to buy 3 more guns but they are nowhere at the top of my list to spend money on.

I was talking about the people who are scared at the sight of a gun. Do they know the laws where they live?

    Where would that be??

See this is the imaginary divide - "If you don't like guns and want everyone to have unlimited access then you have to be a Wuss who is afraid of guns"

Sorry but the world is far more complicated than that

So all those you list above should carry a firearm? The last sentence describes how all people carrying firearms should be. If you are only doing it for attention you are not helping the image of gunowners.

More than likely they do not know the law. The more people you make uncomfortable, the more likely those laws get changed. Anyone that thinks they can not be changed, needs to look at other states and cities. They can get away with it if the population supports them doing so. When the NRA starts to tell them they are handling in wrong, they might wanna listen.

if you are afraid of guns why don't you learn some things about them you don't have to buy any just learn some facts.

I used to be terrified of rock climbing you know what I did about it I went to a controlled environment a rock gym, and learned about climbing while I respect the reality that itis dangerous aand never really do it without fear I'm capable of controlling that fear. believe it or not I actually have some fun.

Blame whomever you like, the fact is that those were guns in their hands, there is not much else that would get such results, while maintaining a buffer zone between the victims & gun owner/wielder.
The fact is also, that until the "Insident" the spree killer was a responsable gun owner.
I don't want to eliminate guns, just creat an safer atmosphire. A ban on civilian ownership of military style weapons, high capasity magizines would be nice, (spree killings have grown since the assualt weapon expired, coinsidence?) but outlawing private sales without a background check, in hand with a law allowing/requiring mental health practitioners to report mental illness would be a step in the right direction.
I know, a step in the right direction, implys to the parinoid mind a rounding up of all weapons, which btw didn't happen while the AW ban was in effect, I'm sure you will find more allies among the supporters of sensable gun law reform, assumeing, that is, unless you are part of the totalitarian rightwing regieme, that is confinscating them, then it will be the "sensable" & quiet gun owners fighting for freedom.

    Your satiric skills need work.
Your implication that no one should own a dog, because of a few deaths per year has no basis in the movement for sensable gun laws, Dogs are already required to be registered.

That is unanswerable specificly, but generally, 99% of gun owners are like that & are no threat to sociaty.

That's my point. I've been a bit sarcastic in this thread.

Well, cars, trucks are built as transportation. Guns are tools made to kill, that is what guns are for, target shooting is practicing to kill. Whether for food or war, that's what guns are for.
I don't fear guns, I fear those who exualt their tools above humanity.

That's foolish. Fear of something because of what it is designed for but nit fearing something that is extremely deadly because it isn't designed to be.

    Okay

I guess if guns were originally designed for flower arranging then it would be okay with the hoplophobes? Or is the whole "X is made for Y" thing just an empty rhetorical device designed to avoid cognitive dissonance?
