You do not know what is socialism. You don't know what is wealth redistribution. You don't understand public education, elder insurance, or public health care.

Remember that Nancy Pelosi is technically still the leader of the Dem Party and so what the Dems actually have is a figurehead Senior Dementia sufferer PLUS a dumb barista and a terrorist sympathizer as the collective public face of their party. Now that's gonna leave a political mark.

I have made no commentary on the quality of services from government. My point is that you can't call one "tax/spend" program socialism if you don't call all "tax/spend" programs socialism. Tax/spend is either socialism or it is not.

As to government services; damn, dude... I absolutely LOATHE everyone in DC. I want them out of my life and I want them out, now! Everything the federal government touches turns to utter ****. We just paid a yuge tax bill, and I know that at least 50% of that is going to pay for employees who provide no value or service, wasted purchases, hookers & blow for elected officials, etc.

I'm more libertarian than anything, but I do jump off that bus when they head to loonyville.

If we would hold our elected officials accountable to their jobs, we'd have a much more efficient/less corrupt government. My fellow citizens, though, keep returning these criminals to Congress at a 90%+ re-election rate. Why should they change? Their bosses keep telling them, "good job!"

We have the government we've asked for, and the government we deserve. We are absolutely terrible employers. I continue to hope that my fellow citizens will wake up one day and start demanding these clowns do their job, as outlined in the constitution. I'm in my 50's, now, so it looks like my 30~ish year dream is going to stay a dream until I die.

 

Nancy's statement was incomplete. It should have been "I reject socialism EXCEPT for the military industrial complex".

That would have been much more accurate and honest.

protecting against disease is defense too, so justifies national healthcare

a stronger society defends us against outside influence and helps create better potential soldiers when the children grow up ... thus welfare programs are justified

Most Democrats aren't socialist, they just equate the word socialism with free stuff because Norway has a bunch of that, but the amount of money various spent on "free stuff" at various levels of government in the US could buy the entire Norwegian economy.
