Is this wedge issue more important to you than economics?

Why can't you remain with family? That's what poor people who want security of food/housing always do (outside of the spoiled First World). Why bring so much anxiety and anger into your life by expecting something you can't afford?

Oh I am. But since family is adopted and I am homeless because of bio family… I am legally squatting at a moms friends house. Aka once again, legally homeless.

The school has NOTHING to do with the private cultural life of the child. It's not in their wheelhouse, and none of their business. Neither are they medical professionals tasked with treating children. They should never have greater jurisdication over a child than the parents .. not ever.

Their job is simple: Teach kids to read and write. That's IT.

How are you squatting? Why aren't you a solid and permanent member of the household?

    This is utterly terrifying.

If the kid's parents 'don't need to know', then schools are WAY WAY down the list of entities who should have access to such information.

Why don't they regard you as a member of the household? Why aren't they including you in the practical (if not legal) ownership of the house and land, and to all its benefits, for life?

    Back to the OP.

Having money doesn't mean much if that money can't buy what it used to buy.

I'm not discussing law, I'm discussing private living arrangements. I'm a part of a collective, and not all of us are related by blood. Those who aren't, are just as much members of the group as relatives, because they're just as committed to maintaining the collective as are the blood related. It's their commitment to the 'household' which matters, not their legal or blood status. I'm wondering why the household you belong to, does not regard you as a permanent member.

Oh I see now. The answer is I am a member of their family. But because of the way the US works it’s very biological family oriented, and legal minded. So while I am a member of my adopted family, my legal standing is that I am the child of my bio parents. And since we haven’t gone through the adoption process (as I was an adult when I was kicked out of bio family), legally speaking I am not the daughter of my adopted family.

Again, I'm not talking about the laws. I'm asking why you are not 'made' (via sentiment etc) a permanent member of your household. Why are you considered temporary?

Schools, IMHO, are not the platform to "teach" gender orientations. Given our test scores compared to the rest of the world more time on math, science, critical thinking and communications skills, e.g. writing, speaking, debate, are more in order.
As it should be. Particularly and the K-3 ages.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time with housing. I urge you to research any government programs available in your state for housing and emergency homelessness. If you can't get help in New York state then you can't make it anywhere.

Oh, and get on Medicaid if you can to save money. Not many people know that the ACA made the Medicaid household income requirement a "tax household," not a residential household like with SNAP benefits. If you file your own taxes and it's just you, then you only put yourself down. It doesn't matter who you live with because roommates don't count for income requirements for Medicaid.

That said, I almost knew there would be someone to counter my argument. I still have the sense that people with lower incomes can find affordable housing. There are smaller homes, trailer parks, and apartments near me that are tucked away out of sight on side/back roads the sites blocked by trees and bushes so no one notices them.

Well you can think as you like but the 2/10 yield curve inverted twice this month already which has predicted 7 of the last 8 recessions within a year of it happening. At theoretically full employment, there isn't the labor capacity for supply to keep up with demand. GDP is inflation adjusted to boot. So, if you are paying 8% more for groceries then that is 8% less you are spending on something else. When they shave the 8% inflation off the real dollar GDP numbers, it becomes a negative because the 8% you didn't spend on tennis shoes or whatever else you would have purchased. Now add to that that your 5% annual payraise becomes a 3% pay cut in terms of purchasing power, then people are going to be cutting back and saving for a rainy day not knowing what their gas bill or light bill might be 3 months from now. It becomes a tighter rope to walk once consumers' fears get tossed into the mix and the fed raising rates makes it more expensive to borrow so people aren't going to be able to fake it til they make it as readily.

Anyway, nobody expects a protracted recession. Just a shortish one.

I understand what he/she/it is saying. It means does not have a secure housing situation. Could theoretically be kicked out at any moment.
That is how government surveys tabulate homeless numbers. If you are sleeping on a friend's couch, and cannot afford a better living situation, that is seen as a form of homelessness. There is a spectrum, it is not entirely a black and white thing.
