Depends on who's fault it was. But we both chose to go on a dangerous road so it's not like I purposely criminally violated your car or your body. So I don't think I should be responsible for 100% of the cost in that case.

yeah um, forcing me to pay for car insurance isn't "free market".

That is why ALL drives must have car ins

I do not want to be hit by someone and have to pay the bills

It's your choice to put yourself in that situation, right? If you have car and health insurance, they can cover some or all of the cost.

It is still not a violation of anyones' rights for me to not buy car insurance.

Agreed, and they can perhaps apply the same level of corporation tax to all industries.

You can decide not to drive thus not have car ins. It is not like health ins where Obamacare forces someone to buy coverage

If you want to start a thread on this go ahead - we are getting of topic

The irony of someone with your political stance talking about the lack of compassion of others, has not escaped me.

This is the free market at work, you do like the free market don'tcha?

Because people who are poorly schooled don't understand how the system works and find it easier to blame the wrong person.

YES. It is EXACTLY like that. It violates NO ONE'S rights for me to not buy car insurance. It VIOLATES MY RIGHTS for the government to either make me buy car insurance or have my own car taken from me or barred from my use.

Why not discuss the facts that China, India etc. are using more oil than ever now, and THAT is why the prices of gasoline and other oil products are increasing? Not "Obamanomics"?

It's actually not the free market. It's Big Oil co-opting government.

Now the libs are back to "the people are stupid" excuse

It is an outrage that people are now holding Pres Obama to the same standards libs held Pres Bush to

I'd be more outraged that the public school system had let me down so badly.

I currently live 2 miles from my part time underemployed Obamanomics job. I would ride my bike back and forth every day if I could. 1) There are no showers (do you really want to smell me after a 2 mile ride in the sun on a So Cal 95 degree day?). 2) I work from 3 PM to 1:30 AM. This means even with lights on the bike, I'm taking my life in my hands with the drunk and stoned drivers out on the road at that time of the night.

Sorry to hear about the commute and the gas prices. In my case there has to be some benefit to working part time @ low wages.

All I do is keep it maintained and it does the rest

I wish I could say the same about my 20 year old Honda Accord. It has problems I can't afford to fix on my Obamanomics job right now. Unemployment in my county in California is still WELL over 12%.

So you believe that government should step in and artificially skew the price of petrol (more than it already is), because you do not want to take personal responsibility for your own circumstances.

    WOW.

And you call the Left "socialists".

    The irony is palpable.

Move closer to work. Problem solved.

    Again, personal responsibility.

The Echo was a great car and was the top choice with Consumer Reports for several years

Amazing how "Personal Responsibility" only applies to us, yet we are forced to pay the way for welfare schmutzes, food stamps, WICS and section 8 housing as well as their health care. Where's the personal responsibility there?

    It is called liberal compassion

Lins have shown for generations they are very generous with other peoples money

Yet during the Bush years these same libs demanded Bush be held responsible for high gas prices

That "D" at the end of Obama's names makes all the difference

I simply take personal responsibility for my own life, I do not expect the PM to look after me. I do not want the government to artificially manipulate the markets, so that a certain product is cheaper. I believe in the free market.

If you want to be looked after all your life, I suggest you move to Singapore.

It applies to everyone. I find it odd how you want the government to stop inteferring, except when it comes to the price of price of petrol.

It looks to me that you guys are selective socialists.
