The BoR's was written to protect both the States and The People from the Federal government. The "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State," applies to the States. The "right of the people to keep and bear Arms" applies to the people. "shall not be infringed" covers both. Simple understanding of US History and understanding English is all that is needed to understand the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It was written for the common man to understand it.

that would start a civil war that the anti gun side would lose badly. Do you plan on being part of the side that tries to confiscate guns?

your misunderstanding of the second amendment is comical. All the second amendment does is negatively restrict what the federal government was never given any power to do in the first place

that makes no sense-you clearly have no education in constitutional law-a subject I once taught. The bill of rights negatively restrict a government of limited powers from engaging in activity that the government was never given any proper power to act upon in the first place. Nothing in article one section eight gave the federal government any gun control power

No, I plan on having the people do it themselves, aided a little by the police but not much

America's love for guns is propaganda, and changing rapidly.

I didn't say it did. I think the 2nd am is a useless anachronism directed at our not having a standing Army. Our gun laws are statutory matters of public safety

Sounds to me like you're ignoring the entirety of it to satisfy the "anti-gun nuts." Why ignore the entirety of the amendment? What do you gain from trying to misconstrue a basic statement?

You hear about that rapper wannabe in New York? Shot a cop with a gun he had on him in violation of the law? He didn't do a day in jail. For shooting a cop. And they want to pass new laws!?!? Mass murderously insane.

When the federal government and Democrats push for charges against Hunter Biden for his gun crime I will believe they actually care about this and aren't just virtue signaling.

But you need only one shot to kill somebody. :(

IMHO It would be great to have a policy to keep guns and ammo locked away so that the owner can be severely punished if another person got access to his arsenal.

School shooters often use guns owned by parents/relatives which have not been adequately secured against unauthorized access. :(

Yes, good points although by limiting magazine capacity to 5 rounds it would both limit the damage caused by spree killers and stop them outgunning the police. As for pistols maybe limit their mags to 7 rounds.

Please note, I'm not taking guns off anyone, this would be used for fresh purchases. And I would point out there are already limits to what sort of weapons you can own, the 2nd amendment is not absolute.

Leave you alone? I don't think so. You won't answer my question because you should know it will make the American quality of life plummet or you live in a fantasy world. No gun laws would make urban areas mini-Mogadishus. People would be walking around in the grocery wearing body armor and shouldering ARs. Your wish is idiotic and dangerous, but maybe it is that you just don't care about other people's quality of life.

that's complete idiocy given how many new gun buyers were created in the last two years.

that's moronic. there are billions of normal capacity magazines in circulation and the military constantly dumps thousands. They are also easily made. Criminals who already ignore gun laws will have them and all your stupid scheme does is disarm those who follow even stupid laws. and its unconstitutional as well

nonsense. BTW have you figured out that the federal government was never given any proper power in this area to start with?

But as time goes on they'll be phased out. I doubt they'll be that easily manufactured.

The 2nd Amendment is constantly infringed, there are plenty of restrictions already in force.

Lets put your list through a simple test.

Flaco the felon wants a gun to commit a crime. Does your list hinder Flaco, or does it hinder his victims?

Not to mention five round magazines. What’s the point? I can change the mag on a AR style weapon in one second. My buddy’s in like 1/10th of a second. So if a nutcase is shooting up a Walmart what does saving a second do? Other than infringe on peoples rights? Makes absolutely no sense.

Carrying a license with you gun. I’m certified to carry, it’s called a concealed pistol license or CPL. i carry it at all times, even when I’m not carrying a gun. Do we really expect street things on Chicago s south side or Detroits east side to remember to carry that license when they leave for a night of gang violence?
