Normally, I am nominally respectful of the recently deceased, but in this case...good riddance to cheap caudillo.

I've just clicked two of the links, they don't even so much as mention anything about Chavez whatsoever..

You just did a google search and posted links to the 5 random blogs..

I'm not about to sort through them all.

Simply tell me, in plain words, some examples of sadism.

BTW Do a search for "the Earth is flat".. I got 248 million hits. Must be true!

    rest in peace Hugo

always remembered for your UN comment about the Satanic US President GW Bush and for expelling the Israeli Ambassador in 2009 after they launched their Operation Slaughterhouse in Gaza

chavez was hugely popular with the poor of his country who saw significant improvements in their lives...

There will be many tears amongst the stalls and donkey carts, the vegetable sellers, the cafes and bakeries- not just in Venezuela.

A communist who wanted the rich to share with the poor, just excluded himself from one of the rich required to share. What a hypocrite!

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has died in hospital at the age of 58 after developing a severe respiratory infection during his battle with cancer.
Supporters of the president, who had been fighting the disease for two years, claimed he had been infected by ‘imperialist enemies’.The country's vice president Nicolas Maduro, surrounded by other government officials, made the announcement during a national television broadcast last night.‘We have no doubt that commander Chavez was attacked with this illness,’ added Mr Maduro, fingering ‘imperialist’ foes led by the United States.
He said: 'The old enemies of our fatherland looked for a way to harm his health.’

The assumption being made is that the manipulation of populism is exclusively a "trait" of those one is politically and ideologically opposed to. Political parties within formal liberal democracies frequently manipulate populism in order to appeal to a specific electoral constituency for the purpose of electoral gain, often cynically so. The poor in Venezuela benefited from the lack of formal democracy under Chavez who, crucially in terms of outcome, began to reverse the levels of inequality in favour of the masses. Formal democracies, on the other hand, are characterized by rising levels of inequality, the impacts of which disproportionately favour a minority.

No one is saying that populism isn't common. It is just BS to call yourself a communist and redistribute weath to ...yourself. His family is worth 2 billion. No one, especially the poor, benefit from the lack of democracy because options are taken from them that they should have access to. Please recognisze that the right to vote in a free and fair election is an immeasureble human right.

Sorry but it was you who raised the issue of populism intended as tool with which to bash Chavez. I merely pointed out the hypocrisy. Democracy is a term often used for propaganda purposes by those who are ideologically opposed to others. The implied notion that Chavez was somehow an autocratic dictator is complete nonsense. Chavez was recalled for election on a regular basis. Not only that but the election process in Venezuela was monitored by international observers and was proven to be free and fair. Incidentally, human rights are not restricted to voting but encompass outcomes too.

Best moment ever: when he got up in front of the UN entire GA and went on one about evil GWBush... Most epic Chavez moment ever! Especially if you can understand his Spanish. Ties for the most legendary moments with GWBush and his ninja style flying shoe dodging.

Of course people will use that as one of the straws they grasp at to call him an evil dictator, but don't forget he was merely returning the favor!

Agreed... The guy, like pretty much all politicians across the world, is a hypocrite of the highest caliber. This is politics.

This doesn't make him an evil sadistic thug and such.. Well there are human rights issues, but nothing even approaching the magnitude of Western leaders including US presidents on both sides of the "aisle".

He locked that judge up on criminal accusations.. Yep.. How's that different than the dozens locked up in the Gitmo gulag with no criminal charges ever even filed against them, let alone a trial? They've been rotting there for years while human rights organizations around the world have been screaming bloody murder.

I'm still waiting for an actual example instance of sadism as used as accusation by not you but another poster.. They presented none. Compared to the horrific torture exerted by US in its various dungeons including torturing people to death, and the clear mindset of presidents who don't mind that and allow it to happen.

People try to blame Chavez for his country's decline while their own country declines worse... Also, where's the blame for the USA for trouble in Venezuela? Don't forget they have been doing everything they can to destabilize the country, including financing a radical coup de tat against him which severely disrupted his government. While doing everything they could to break that country into pieces, and then blame the leader for that country's turmoil?!? What a trip!

He's not evil for any of these less significant reasons these foreign leaders use to brainwash their populations into mindless demonizations, he's evil because he doesn't sell his country off to foreigners and bend over backwards for foreign oil companies, and because he tells the United States to (*)(*)(*)(*) off, and rightfully so.

But still, Chavez has issues. The guy's no saint, unless you compare him to dozens of various heads of state around the world, including leaders of the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Israel, and of course, the United States, et. al. at which point, he IS a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing saint!

Chances are that they would'nt need any aid - if it wasnt for US Govt support for the thieves who continue stealing Palestinian lands.

BOSTON — It's no secret that Israel is the United State's biggest ally in the Middle East. Just follow the money.

The US has donated $115 billion in foreign aid to Israel since World War II, making it the largest post-war recipient of aid. That compares to $4 billion committed for the Palestinians in the same timeframe.

The money is for very different reasons.

Since the 1990s, nearly all US aid to Israel has been in the form of military assistance to maintain its "qualitative military edge" over the country's Arab neighbors. That basically means giving the Israeli military better training and equipment to compensate for their defecit in troop numbers
The aid to the Palestinian Authority is largely for economic support and and social services.

For a side by side comparison of how much the US gives foreign aid to Israel and Palestinians annually, see the interactive chart below.

    byeeeeee,

R.I.P. Hugo Chávez - He halted the Yankee Gringo's widespread interference in the governments of Central and Latin America .
The 1954 CIA coup which deposed President Arbenz in Guatemala set a trend which continued well into the 1970s, with the similar CIA-engineered coup that deposed President Allende. Allende was replaced by the US-friendly dictator Augusto Pinochet.

Hugo Chavez was one of those Latin American leaders who determined to end US interference in the governance of their countries.
