Why should people have to pray when the Bible claims that God knows what they need? Why should people have to beg when the birds of the air don't have to beg for their food? Aren't people created in God's image? Why would he then let his living images go without what they need? Does a good parent make his children beg for food before he feeds them?

His basis for morality is the same as everyone else. You certainly don't get yours from god or the bible.

If I had Jesus' powers I'd be dead. I rate Jesus and Elvis still being alive by the same measure....it's bullschit!

I AM a Christian and I do not believe God does anything of the sort.

And yes, through his design God did create Everything, I have never claimed anything but that, nice try.

You didn't answer the question. You say that "what's best for humanity is a start", and it was a start, but then you left the question alone, indicating that you haven't even a basis for your own morality, which leaves me to surmise that all that you have is your feeling. This is obviously problematic, because the truth or correctness of your feelings (in regards to morality) is then measured in only two ways - 1) do they match what you feel [this will obviously lead you to the same conclusion, nearly every time], or 2) do they match what others feel? Regardless, you've entered a circle where morality is either whatever the individual feels or it is a vote, both of which would force you to say that Auschwitz isn't necessarily wrong, which is why I ask you again - what is the basis for your morality?

You're also making the error of saying that "not stopping" is equivalent to "supporting" or "being fine with". That is of course false.

Again, you haven't answered the question.

If you think it's "quibbling over the semantics", you misunderstood the question.

If you're going to make absolute statements like what morality is, you can't dodge and deny what you base that upon.

And no, it's not the same as everyone else's. Yours, perhaps, but not everyone else's.

Funny you'd jump right to that - that's more a reflection of your thinking than of mine.

God seems to be letting lots of Africans die of Ebola.

    Maybe its his will?

I think we need to take this over to the humor and satire area and make a "anti-motivational Jesus poster quotes" thread. :D

"If I had all the powers of Jesus, your life would still suck."

I don't find that to be an absolute statement.

I base it on the basis that good and bad does not come from any religious text. As Christopher Hitchens stated "I think our knowledge of right and wrong is innate in us. Religion gets its morality from humans. We know that we can't get along if we permit perjury, theft, murder, rape, all societies at all times, well before the advent of monarchies and certainly, have forbidden it"

People who tend to claim to get their morality from the bible are outright liars. They only pick and choose certain passages while ignoring other ones. This would certainly dismiss their claims if they are able to "edit" their own values of morals and morality.

Funny you'd jump right to that - that's more a reflection of your thinking than of mine.

I personally don't believe in the interaction between dead and the living, but i believe in some kind of preservation of one's thoughts and memories when they die, which can be sensed by living people... a form of reincarnation. But if Jesus was brought alive among us, he would have both a lot to teach and to learn. A brilliant mind remains such, 2000 years ago as it is nowadays.

He has/had angels. I don't think he kicked all of them out.
Sin must be something in paradise as well as earth. Else why kick out some angels?

You didn't answer the question. I asked what his basis for morality is - you iterated a view of moraliry, skipping over the basis. And, if you concur with Hitchens that morality is innate then you can not say what another person does is immoral.

And, again, I didn't say anything about the Bible. I'd suggest dropping the strawman.

Is that what he was doing during the 30 years he was absent....building coffee tables? I wonder if he ever masturbated like other teens.

List three things that Jesus said that might qualify as brilliant.

It takes a lot of praying and magic oil to get rid of the Ebola demons.

Attracting many followers to his doctrine surely makes him a charismatic figure. The things he said didn't look like the farnetications of a lunatic, they had obviously deep meanings. Otherwise nobody would follow him i suppose.

Perhaps the nature of a thing is inherent in the manner of its creation. Can good steel be created in any way other than a violent process? (Like I say, doesn't make sense to me either)

I can list 8, the Beatitudes. They're essentially meaningless but amazingly beautiful in the sentiments they express. Thus, they form a perfect basis for any religion as every follower can find his own meaning within them and it will be totally heartfelt as they have made it up themselves.

You can say what you want about Jesus, but he knew how to design a system of beliefs that satisfied people, even if they didn't make lots of sense.

People follow all kinds of lunatics, which makes them just as nutty as their leaders.

Can you cite three things that Jesus said that would qualify him as brilliant?

According to that criteria Mohammed, Mary Baker Eddy, Joseph Smith, Russell, Gardner, Jim Jones, and L. Ron Hubbard should be celebrated as well.

Without the brainwashing of each new generation by their parents and other authority figures that foolish fairy tale would be dead with a capital D. Why are people so naïve and gullible?

    Mark 16:
17"These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will be healed."

Well he did preach peace, love and the share of the wealth with the poor, in a world filled with violence and inequality... much like a mahatma ghandi of the past. They are not common people, that's for sure.

He didn't have to talk. He could turn water into fine wine, raise people from the dead and he served a mean fish and bread supper.....and about that time a whole flock of bird dogs flew over.
