It's as absurd to you to want Iranian standards, as it is to the Iranians to want your standards. When you an other Americans can get that into their heads, the world might finally have some peace.

It's the same as if a woman went topless here, and began waving her clothes because she objected to our dress codes. It says nothing, other than maybe she needs a mental examination.

In modern America she will have to do better than merely going topless to get thrown in jail

Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, and a mass of enslaved human beings. It's happening again, but not in Russia. This time Russia is fighting it.

I didn't say jail, I said a mental examination. It's probably what happened to the woman in Iran.

None of this means there is a Sharia Law zone in London.

    I'm calling your bluff.

There are decent people trapped in a police state kleptocracy kept in power by religious extremists.

    I’m sure there are

Thats why it was so disappointing when obama supported the mullahs instead of the student reformers in 2009

Why separate ISIS into regions when they are in both Syria and Iraq.? They have been decimated.

Recruitment levels are down and this is one of the reasons why. https://www.apnews.com/745daed8aa62...joined-IS-faced-almost-certain-death-in-Raqqa

It has nothing to do with "liking". Just saying that what the US overcome compared to Iran, is not that important at all since kids in the US get their heads blown off on a regular basis.

What a croc! You start with a false choice and an assumption the U.S. is unstable, then make an asinine claim I want to impose my (U.S.) standards. I'm a citizen of Canada, too, so I have more than one perspective on government. Finally, I travel around the world, so I have that additional input.

He declined to support the students. I think he did the right thing because they were overnatched and could not possibly have prevailed.

If you believe the US has the right to go into another nation to support a group protesting, then the same right should be extended to other countries as well. What if Russia was to help out the 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters, or the black rioters in Ferguson? How would you feel about it then?

Most importantly, he formulated a plausible theory of history centered around class struggle as the prime moving factor.

I disagree. Leaving people with a belief they get help that won't be forthcoming is wrong.

Marx didn't originate the idea of a class struggle, but he definitely helped popularize the analysis. I don't think determinism holds up under scrutiny.

Iran is the worlds number state sponsor of terrorism

So the mullahs deserve what they get

But I did not expect obama the send in the Marines

Diplomatic and economic pressure on the regime would have been helpful to the students

And if they requested weapons I would be more than happy to supply them

That certainly doesn't say much for the Libyan people or their culture. Civilized nations can lose a political leader, and frequently do through death or the electoral process, but it certainly doesn't "throw them back into the stone age".

This is certainly not to defend the stupidity of Clinton /Obama who created this mess.

Do you consider Iran to be 'safe and stable'? That was often the excuse used by leftists to describe those being forced to live in Communist nations, and you can still hear their argument when defending the dictatorship in Cuba. Even the North Korean leadership recently enchanted the left.

I believe people prefer to their lives in freedom and enjoy investigating the meaning of their own lives, without the strict guidance of religious fanatics. Which would you prefer?
