Usually science is pretty clear about where it stands on some subject.

From there, the public hears about it through news outlets that really don't have the time and personnel to do a great job of reporting, especially when it comes to nuance concerning how confident science might be on a topic. The cool breaking news is usually something where there was some immediate and surprising result - and that usually means it hasn't gone through enough of the mill that science uses to exclude false ideas.

So, you might need to mention some topic here or do some looking at solid science sources to find what position is being taking by the majority of science.

The Church existed long before it took hold of Rome. It existed outside of Rome. People with the right hearts see the Gospel of Christ through the "fog of Rome".
