And I absolutely agree that if we could divert war spending on pulling up the backward nations of the world, that it would be money well spent. I don't think bringing them to the US first would be the way to go about this, however.

Just out of curiosity, how would you spend the money on 100 million immigrants from Somalia, etc? (In Africa, I would spend it on education, especially women's education, health care, infrastructure, trying to get police forces that were paid well enough so that they didn't have incentives to shake people down. But I'm not sure how it should or could be spent productively here.)

Another out-of-curiosity question, or rather two: are these neighborhoods to which you refer typical -- which is what I hand in mind for my comparison, not enclaves inhabited by doctors and lawyers -- and in any case, where are they?

The chart that you linked on this page showing that a vast majority of immigrants are unskilled labor. The one proving Trump's point that "they aren't sending their best." Let's UNCAP immigration altogether, and simply require:

1. English fluency and significant evidence of a desire to assimilate,
2. HS equivalent education,
3. Marketable skills within our economy.

Something like what it takes to immigrate to Switzerland, or any of the OECD socialist darlings.

We'll take -everyone- black, brown, yellow or green, who brings the desire to be an American and has taken the steps in their lives to make them valuable to us.

Good question: how many people from backward countries like Somalia, Kenya, the Congo, Sudan would come to the US, if they could? I reckon rather a lot. But the question was, if they did, would that make any difference to the kind of country the US is?

If they all assimilated and just became brown/black-skinned Americans -- that is, people who adhere, in their great majority, to the norms of liberal democracy -- then that's one thing. I hope that's going to be the destiny of humanity, in the long run, and all-ways-immigration is one of the ways that's taking place. But it's a question of whether that would happen, if very large numbers came -- that is, not a self-selected educated elite, but the broad masses. I'm skeptical of that, reading news of horrible tribal butcheries that take place in sub-Saharan Africa.

But, you know, I think everyone knows that. It's just that we're not supposed to say it. We're supposed to pretend that all cultures are equal, when it's obvious that they are not. (And, as I pointed out elsewhere, saying "Immigration is not a problem because not many of them are actually coming" has an implication that the people who make this argument probably don't want to make, namely, that if there were many of them coming, then it would be a problem.) [By the way, if I were running things, I'd take a couple of million immigrants from Muslim countries -- first of all the Christians and Ahmadies and other persecuted sects, into the US, provided I could set the terms for their settlement here, which would involve scattering them in small groups among American small towns rather than permitting the creation of ghettoes.]

 

Considering its a point system (just like Canada's) and race is not one of the criteria then no its not ethnic cleansing. Of course everyone but the OP seems to know that so either the OP willfully ignorant or is just illiterate.
