Not necessarily. Using that logic, George Floyd’s was a COVID-related death too because he died with COVID in his system.

Perhaps. He was showing all the symptoms of a fentanyl overdose though.

Scotland is now testing 11.5% positive. This is by far the most that has ever been and is not hampered by the lack of testing in the Spring. It looks like there is definately a surge in Scotland.

Alaska went through a mean surge of its own over the summer, but is now on the decline to the point where our kids will be going back to in-schooling next month. I believe that every part of the world will have to suffer a surge until herd immunity finally kicks in and things return to normal, which it eventually will.

~ Well perhaps more testing results in more cases . If death/hospitalization does not increase that is what matters most.

➡ The Scottish Government will boost its COVID-19 testing programme in the lead up to winter, aiming to increase daily tests by 25,000 and improve access to testing, the Testing Strategy document reveals. ...Aug 17, 2020

Is this the result of months of lockdown?

The Swedes were right--the best way to deal with the virus is to face the music. The weak will die and the strong will survive, just as Darwin suggested.

Scotland will have to face the music sooner or later.

Nowhere on the planet has herd immunity, nor will anywhere tolerate that much chaos and death, if they have a choice.

However, you have accidentally lurched into the general vicinity of the truth. When experts talk about herd immunity, they're usually talking about vaccines. America is unlikely to get there because we have too many nuts. But vaccines will eventually get things under control.

No it is about having everything open for 3 months. Everything except my grandaughter's gymnastic class. The UK unlike the US has not been in lockdown since june/july.

Sweden is again picking up. It happens when people forget/get lazy/think they are clever and do not keep distance, wash hands and very importantly wear masks.

Our kids have been back at school since the second week of August. There is at the moment no thought of that changing though a lot of our students are in lockdown in their universities!

The virus is here to stay Alexa. Fortunately they engineered it to have a very low morbidity rate. Unfortunately they engineered it to be highly infectious.

Highly infectious but barely morbid. Dark cloud with silver lining. Life goes on. The masks do nothing except make the wearer have a false sense of security.

They have brought out a new app so that they can let you know if you have been near someone with it. It works with androids and iphone 6s up. I have ipone 6. They then said, what happen if you have an earlier phone? And answered 'you cannot use the app'

~ Yes I believe they are doing this in all of EU. Some are resistant due to privacy issues. It's a way to keep track of infection areas.

    ~ Many of the weak / elderly can survive too if they are protected - just like during flu season. This is what our doofus "experts" should have told us 6 months ago. { I believe this is what Sweden did ..? }

If you are found to be in the area where someone was and was believed to be positive at the time, they phone you and I think ask you to do the 2 weeks self isolation. Definately share concern about privacy. The intent has been to foolproof this but as I discovered I could not use it, I did not check but I certainly was saying earlier on I would not get it for that reason.

Well Spain, France and the UK seem to be the three European countries with the biggest surge. I know France has been speaking for a couple of weeks about their hospitals getting near overwhelmed. They have a lot more cases than in March and as yet much lower deaths though they are starting to get up to 150 some days. The UK has certainly see a rise of those in hospital though as yet nothing like March. That is where the difficulty is in judging this with the March lockdown. Then only 20,000 a day were being tested and most of them thinking they had the virus. Now it is around 100,000 a day and people can request one at will. In addition the majorority of people infected this time are the young, like students and we will not be sending infected people to care homes this time so as far as deaths are concerned we will need to wait and see. However we all need to remember that as many as one third who get the virus end up with on going illness which can be just joint pain and fatigue but also can be serious lung and heart problems and I think brain ones as well and these people can have been asymtomatic when they had the virus. It is thought that this may be life long.

Where positives go hospitalizations and deaths follow.

That's the point of herd immunity, lots of people test positive.
