You aid them, and walls ARE built over mountains, we taxpayers, owe them nothing.

    Huh?

I assume you are referring to MacArthur who fled the Philippines to save his own skin, leaving others (some being US fellas) there at the 'mercy' of the Japs. He took off in a PT boat with his staff and Family to eventually fly to Australia. He is not revered here.

Mate......I know 'my' History. Do not eulogise MacArthur to me. He ran away. Plain and simple fact.

That's not what history shows, the Japanese surrenderd personally to MacArthur on the US battleship Missouri.

i do not think it makes a lot of sense...first off, the main purpose I can see is to deter a land invasion.... which seems unlikely with or without such a base

second, there is the issue of funding, trump seems inclined to have other counties pay handsomely
For our defense services. And I doubt the Aussies are up for that

third, ther would be a problem finding a physical location that would be available, desirable, and useful

forth it seems doubtful that two advanced and nuclear armed countries will ever again fight a conventional war. Not that there might not be struggles played out through various proxies or economic competition

    None.

SK, Japan, Philippines, etc. are allies.

South Vietnam was an ally, but we got scared and ran.

Our left wing has a hard time justifying the defense of other countries (South Vietnam). They don’t like to do that. Most conservatives have no problem defending allies.

You have ignore the question of how you are going to cede the Rio Grande to Mexico

And how long did it take to build the Great Wall of China?

    Please see responses above

Recently, since Trump, no conservatives no longer wish to defend allies

He ran away from the Philippines with a boat load of household goods. He could have saved a few US soldiers instead, but apparently he thought a few chairs were more important than American lives.
