I'll also throw out the standard trump defense: There exists a way to look at an action such that it isn't strictly illegal. Therefore it's ok.

I have no problem with political criticism of the man. I do have a problem with a draft-dodging coward running down his SERVICE and I know that nobody can respect veterans and support that.

No, it isn't. It's just truth that there are no oif/oef vets who spent 5 years being regularly tortured. And, even if there were, it wouldn't change the fact that McCain did, and did so even when he had the option to avoid it. Whereas trump avoided ANY service to his country whatsoever 5 times no less, and then has the gall to run down the service of McCain. That's not defensible if you respect veterans.

 

You said a tour in OIF can't remotely compare to what McCain went through.

That's ridiculous.

Thousands of people died in OIF. Thousands more suffered heinous injuries, like having their faces burnt off or their private parts mangled by improvised explosive devices.

In other words, you attempted to diminish the memory and sacrifices of real veterans.

And for what? To defend some crooked-ass politician from criticism?

 

I could care less what you respect. But, since we’re at it, I don’t respect subhumans like McCain, who didn’t meet a war, that he didn’t want to take home, and screw.
The whole chicken hawk crowd is detestable enough. What’s even more detestable his someone who knows the horrors of war, and yet doesn’t think twice to advocate sending someone else’s kids to fight in a pointless war.

The world is a little better, and a little safer with John McCain not in it.

Second of all, death is death, there is no comparison there other than the odds of dying in oef was massively less than vietnam.

Third of all, yes, I would lose a leg over 5 years of torture and permanent crippling. Furthermore, that isn't even what we were talking about. We were talking about a guy who spent 4 months filling out finance paperwork or something.

 

Thousands of people DIED in OIF/OEF.

At least McCain SURVIVED and went on to live a successful LIFE.

And thousands of other OIF/OEF veterans sustained injuries that rendered them horribly disfigured and disabled for the rest of their lives.

Unlike you, I'm not going to pretend like I know which is worse: Being tortured in a Vietnamese prison camp or having your face burnt off like this guy...

Yes, but HUNDREDS of thousands died in vietnam. It just wasn't the same. Yes, death is death. But people die crossing the street. Again, the guy slopping sos at the dfac in bagram sacrificed much less than McCain did, I'm not ashamed to say that. But, trump sacrificed way way way way less and then saw fit to insult that sacrifice.
